Got a ? about this new gateway I got

Ok so in a previous thread I mentioned how I obtained a brand new Gateway for well pretty much nothing. So yeah dont bash on me for getting a gateway or AMD Phenom. I know they aint the shit but well like I said before It was pretty much free.

It has the 9600 Phenom and a 8800 GT 512. Any way I Downloaded Speedfan cause it seems that the fans never come on. Temp1 is running around 55c idle and 61c while doing stuff. temp 2 hovers around 42c and temp 3 runs 22c. Now I went to speedfans site to get a configuration but they dont have my MB listed. I e-mailed them the info on my MB and according to the site they will try to get me a config for it. After looking more I see this MB fails. It a ESC MCP61PM-GM and from what I am reading ESC kinda fail.

Anyway the question concerns what the Temps are actually reading. Cause from what I have read 8800 GT tend to run hot (60c+) but this phenom should be more around the 30-40c range. I personly think this 8800gt fails for trying to make my pretty 24" screen look good and seems to lock up everynow and then. And last night the wife got a driver fail messege but didnt write down exactly what it said. Oh it also has a 450watt power supply witch to me seems weak.

So any advice? Just seems a week old comp shouldnt be doing this. I know I shouldnt complain since I got it for nothing but still seems lacking.

buy or pirate everest ultimate edition, its basically a pay version of speedfan but I've yet to encounter a machine that it wasn't able to immediately detect everything and be configured automatically accordingly

Yeah its 100% stock but then again I am asking for nothing from it. Not gaming atm.

And yeah its just a knock off 450. This thing came from Best Buy. Like I said though...it was pretty much free

It a ESC MCP61PM-GM and from what I am reading ESC kinda fail.

I hear their customer service is fail, I have a ECS K8M890-M and it cost like $32 (would be $16 but I was a day to early for the rebate). I've had no problems with mine so far, although I'm sure if I did I'd have to go to hell and back to get a replacement.

As for the lock ups, open the case and see how many volts are on the 12v rail. It will list it on a sticker on the side of the power supply. If it is anything less then 20v you may need to replace it.

For your temps, if Temp1 is the Phenom you may want to make sure the heatsink is seated the way it should be. If it is I would go and buy some thermal compound to replace the existing pad it has. I'm more inclined to think the Phenom is Temp2 though. Temp3's temp sensor is off most likely by about 15c so just add that to it in Speedfan and you get your temp for that.

It is all normal if:
Temp1=graphics
Temp2=Phenom
Temp3=whatever it is and add 15c to it

OK opened it up. I was wrong it has a 400watt and runs max 16amps on the 12 volt rail.

Downloaded CoreTemp and it is reading 51c

On AMD's site it saya max is 70c. I am calling gateway, so yeah I didnt buy it but I registered it and it still has a manufacturer warrenty. Wish me luck

Also this case has 2 fans in it and they are working(blowing air)

and something strange I just noticed was that my sidebar cpu clock was showing 37% cpu usage just while surfing the internet. Got to task amager and see that iexplorer.exe was using 32% and only site open was BG. Does vista fuck with internet explorer?

CPU running at 51c with AMD saying max of 70 is ok... just spend a few bucks on a better heatsink/fan combo.

As for that PSU, it's fucking garbage. 16a on the 12v rail simply isn't enough for a gaming machine.
