Sans spoilers (not that Paper Marior really has any spoilers worth caring about), you're basically forced to do a minigame where you jump and hit a block over and over for a few minutes to earn money. Then you go find an NPC who gives you a password for that money so you can go to a hamster wheel room and make more money. After about 10 minutes of running on the hamster wheel (ugh), you earn enough money to pay for another password that lets you advance to the next part. It's even mentioned in the Zero Punctuation review of it, lol.

There's a 3rd that cuts that 10 minutes down to like 1 IIRC.

It's a test of whether will keep slamming your head into a brick wall if you know it will eventually work, or look around for some dynamite.

Eh.. I have it but it's not a very polished game.
Alot of pop in/graphical issues on the world map that should have been addressed before.
Fighting is great, but it could've been better.

No, No More Heroes graphical issues are alot worse than GTA's. lol
I do agree the game is fun as hell during the action sequences, but the world map could've been improved greatly.

I thought the world map was hit and miss. Overall I actually liked it and thought the awesomeness of having the assassination jobs come from guys who needed you to, say, mow their lawn is pretty hilarious. Plus, the t-shirts were AMAZING.

I thought No More Heroes was.. kinda bleh. It's the first game by which I've been so graphically turned off that it made the game less enjoyable. I've never been graphics-picky before, (I'm fine playing many games with NES/SNES-quality graphics, or worse) but No More Heroes looked like absolute shit on my TV. :/ And even though the fighting was fun, albeit probably for 1-2 playthroughs, I was so increasingly appalled by the look of the game during cutscenes that I stopped after killing the first target. I don't know about all the praise; I can't help but feel like I'm not missing out on much.

For me the thing that worked for Smash on my HDTV (I played NMH on a SDTV) was the deflicker option. It turned a jaggy mess into total smoothness.
