So..Apparently has anyone else tried getting the Beret's with a friend whos already been on the game for 365 days? I tried and it said I couldn't get it with my friend, but a GM told me to look it up on a community site for information ... It's pretty weak SE releases an item that you need to recruit another friend for a year for...

Did you actually invite that person into FFXI and have them create thier first character by using a Gold World Pass bought by you?
You wording makes it sound like you just trying to get a Beret with an already existing player.

If you did that properly, you have yo be in a pt with the person who used your gold pass invite and talk to the GWP vendor, and choose "Gold World Pass Benefits" and he will give you the item (or lets you pick an item) that you're qualified for. Guide Beret IS on the list of items available to the person who bought the GWP for the 365 day prize.

I did it with my ex-bf.

Bought him a GWP for a brand new POL account.

365 days later, went to GWP vendor together in party and got our stuff. IIRC I think the person who RECEIVED the GWP has to talk to the vendor first, then the person who BOUGHT the GWP. I'm not 100% on that though, I looked at http://www.playonline.com for exact info. *shrug*

Got everything just fine, and how have both beret, timepiece and airship in my mog.
