    Smithing 55-60

I was hoping for some advice on how to get from 55 Smithing to 60 for sub without killing my limited funds and/or making this a 6 month project. Blah-blah-research-FFXIAH-blah-blah. Darksteel bolt heads > bolts is somewhat viable, but I'd need to make over 20 stacks of DS bolt quivers to get from 55 to 60, and I just don't have the upfront cash for such an undertaking, nor the patience to wait for 20+ stacks of quivers to sell when the usually only get purchased once every few days.

If there are reasonable NPC-able gear synths (<500gil loss/synth), or some new recipes that were released with WoTG, I'd be very appreciative to hear anyone's suggestions. If I have to settle for DS bolt heads, so be it, but I thought I'd ask here first if there were any obscure or new recipes that wouldn't come up with typical forum/Google searches.

I recall doing a mixture of kyofu and darksteel boltheads. I think I got the shinobi-gatana from Norg.

Nope, expect some loss on those levels.

NPCable, still, is Gauntlets that go for 4k-ish at guild, and shouldn't cost more than 6k to make.

Myself I did a mix of: Steel greaves, Steel scale mail, Breast plate, Kyofu, Schlaeger, Haidate (> cursed haidate, sold for decent profit, albeit slowly), Sune-ate, and the bolt heads. No great seller in there, but not too much loss in the long run if you're patient on the resell.

My guide also advised to NPC dark scales, I'm not sure how much you'd get back from the guild, but that could be an option as well.

I did Greaves to 57 and IIRC they sold pretty decently to the vendor. You could make darksteel ingots then make those into chains to cap at 60. If your server prices are roughly the same as mine, you can almost break even by making the ingots and selling them as chains.

As an aside, what are the caps for the Obsidian > Black bolt/Arrowhead recipes?

Bolt heads are the highest at 15 Gold IIRC

Any idea what the Cloth sub skill cap is on Haidate? I'm guessing around 50's?

I'm thinking 40ish; but there's a grip of synths with silk in em...

    Zunari Kabuto @ 34
    Haub @ 38
    Airborne @ 41
    Hara-ate @ 49

Granted, the Silk Cloth is Cloth53, but most (nearly all?) items used in subcrafts have a lower cap.
And you could (maybe have!) done this research, but I'm on a 12 hour shift and bored as shit, so there.
Smithing stuck @ 59 lol (cba to cap, but should)

Meh, I searched a few sources but couldn't find the subcraft level for the Haidate. I didn't think of comparing it to the other synths from the same set, though, so thanks for that info. Clothcraft is easy enough to level so I'll probly go the Haidate route with bolt heads mixed in for sloooooow skillup while working on other stuff.

All I could find is that the sub is Apprentice rank.

    Re: Smithing 55-60

i am 55-60. i did darksteel sheet and steel cruises til 55. npc the pants for 2k profit but ingredients were slowly placed on the AH. so i went to Darksteel sheets and AH in singles for a profit.

i did kyofu/steel greave til 56.7 which sucked on kskills and ate gil.

starting at 56.7 im doing nodowa which with al zhabi advance support i got .9 of 12 syns. then i npc for about 50% loss. on my server, with 100k gives me 36 syns. "50k per stack then npc's them for 50k and go another stack." which got me to 58.6.

you can also do Iyo scale, i dont know how your server is but on mine, ive sold 2 in about a day's time at 20k which gives me break even. but skills up werent great. i might even try to raise the price for a profit since it doesn't look like there is anyone in the market.

    good luck

Do gauntlets until 57, and then Nodowas which are lv66, you will break some at the start but they cost around 3k to make, and npc for 2700g thats the best i could find, if you dont wanna lose money go mine the iron ores and make the iron sheets yourself

    Re: Smithing 55-60

Best way to do this is to synth haidate, a stack of materials runs around 140k on asura and they sell for 20k each, easy money, if a bit slow.
