Picking it up tomorrow. Don't have the highest expectations but I don't think it'll be too bad

Wow, just played it for the first 30 minutes and I'm liking it a lot so far. The cutscenes are pretty fucking sweet, and the ingame graphics are just a tad under PS2 quality. This doesn't even feel like a handheld game.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

I'm about halfway through the NA version, i'm enjoying it a lot more than the jp one since I actually understand everything they're saying, plus all the little text cutscenes that I didn't get before.

Very cool game, gameplay is pretty decent and the story is pretty damn good so far. It ties everything into FF7 and into DoC(I know lulz rite?) pretty nicely. It also gives a lot of background on Sephiroth turning emo and more about Genesis (main villain in this one, he was briefly in DoC towards the end.)

edit: on a different note, the summoning cutscenes are fucking gorgeous (their limit breaks).

I saw some videos on this, Bahamut Zero's cut scene/limit break was fucking insane.

Jesus... These missions are incredibly addicting. Just sat down 2 hours plowing through some of them. Slight challenge in some, too.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

I bought a copy today, Im liking everything except the leveling system. I don't really understand it all that well, I'm not too far in the game but so far level ups have just seemed like random occurances. Anyone have any tips on ways to increase the odds of them happening?

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

They ARE random... you don't control anything as far as level ups go (both zack's levels and the materia level ups..)

The only thing you can control with the materia is the slot you equip them in, and that's how it chooses which slot to level.. other than that the DMW is absolutely, positively random. I hold X down and it seems to give me a lot of successful rounds, but I doubt it actually does anything.

Spent my first 2 hours just doing all the side missions before even leaving for my 2nd real mission. They're cool and the rewards aren't lame like in most other games.

I was reading this guide and it seems the general community theory is that there invisible exp. of some sort. Silly silly, theres even a guide with an EXP. chart, etc. @_@

This game is actually very good, I also just got WA: XF and it's good too, but I highly recommend FF7: CC.

Do most people who lol @ ff7 just do it to ride the bandwagon and be cool? Or are they even people who have actually played the entire game? I realize there are people who take it way out of proportion and obsess over Sephiroth. But for the most part it was an intriguing game that kept my attention till the end. I <3'd the materia system, and the optional bosses.

Maybe it is just FFXI crowd, but even my LS trys to burn ff7; they say ff8 and 9 were so much better (i liked both, lost interest on disk 3 of ff8 still was good game)

    /endrant

in <3 with Lost Odyssey right now, I am not much for hand held system games.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

FF8 and 9 are better than FF7 IMO, but I still loved FF7 heh... and CC is an awesome game, I beat the jp version when that came out and playing through it again in english now and it's like playing a whole new game heh... I thought Genesis/Angeal's voice overs are kind of dull in the english version, but overall the voice acting is very HQ (and Aerith isn't as annoying as in KH2/Advent Children, did they change her VA again?)

I can't wait to give it a try, just have to read more about the controls. I played the other day and got my ass handed to me (!).

9 was certainly better IMO, but not 8. Never 8. I like FFVII, even if the nostalgia googles do a lot more for the game than anything else it's still good in it's own right and a lot of fun to play. I think sloppy translation hurt the game more than the actual story does.

Meh well I'm kind of biased as far as FF8 goes since it was the game that got me into Final Fantasy, let alone RPGs.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

FF7 was my favorite FF game to date, but not by much. I thought FF9 was very close behind, but I enjoyed FF7 more. FF8 was fun at the start but it got a bit nostalgic for me and it pissed me off to no end with that Laguna thing. But overall, Lufia II > Tales of Eternia > FF7 > FF tactics > FF9. Crisis core is very well done, but im definitely feeling a bit annoyed with some of the battles (mostly missions with insta-death) and the reels also get a bit on my nerves.

Anyone know if FF13/14 will bring back those old school turn based/exp system that everyone loved? This kingdom hearts/Star Ocean battle system is gonna bore me out eventually.

Pretty sure they said FF13 will be turned based, but FF13 Versus will be more like Kingdom Hearts.
