    called shineblind, it's a fun tactic and really hard to do that well, but i'm guessing that's the reason they made wolf's/falco's down b's a bit different, can't really do it anymore anyway...wavedashing made the spacing on it easy to do

    Hated people that played Fox like that lol, even though I was a fox player too <_<;

    Anyways Sonic's best KO moves are his Up Air, Back Air, and all his smash atks if they connect pack a punch. I find it easier to handle KOs when people are in the air, and with Sonic that really isn't too hard to do.

    But the key is to keep pressure on the opponent until you find an opening, his speed is his greatest asset (ANNNNND why I'm banned with my friends to play Sonic on 1v1 <_< though my Olimar is just as scary XD)

    So basically all of his attacks except Fair and Dair.

    Fair can be pretty good if it's above 100% off-stage, if you hit your opponent on the way back to the stage with this attack you'll either kill them or make them unable to recover.

    maybe i'm just stupid, but can someone explain what the differences between sonic's down-B and side-B are?

    Side B pops you forward while down B keeps you in place. the after effect of both are the same though.

    Actually the Side-B seems to have more knockback and sets up combos better.

    I know for a fact that the Down-B, after mashing B at least 5 times, will increase the speed of the attack and Sonic's Running speed coming out of it for a short time (1 or 2 seconds). So I use the spin dash (Down-B) to cover distance faster or stun them without launching. The Forward-B is what you use to knock them up, then tap A to jump out of the attack and follow up with Up-Air to juggle.

    Then you can Up-B to continue your combos and juggles. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me... just takes practice. Learning stuff like this makes me think Sonic isn't as bad as people are thinking he is. Priority still sucks though on him :/

    Re: Sonic Discussion

    I made that comment ages ago, basically after trying both out I came to the conclusion that the Down B fucking sucked and wasn't worth using.

    Why are you using Down B to approach if it's equal to Sonic's running speed? You could easily just dash attack them with less punishment if you do it at a time where you won't get countered, it's also easier to react to a mistake if you punish with a dash attack which is so much quicker to execute than the Down B. Either way, a straight approach with Sonic's spin dash is stupid and easily countered. They're good for mind games (and I don't mean "oooo what spin dash attack is Sonic using?!") and keep pressure on, but the side B can be used for so much and there's a lot you can do with it to trick opponents.

    Hammering the Down-B will actually make you move FASTER than Sonic's running speed. That's why you should use it. You use it to basically fly across the stage and smack them around then run away. You can even use it to zip off the stage hit them, and still keep your second and third jumps for some serious juggling.

    Counting the time it takes to charge and the mistakes you might make I'd keep to just dash attacking. At long range people will see it coming, at close range you'll just get hit and cancelling out Spin Charge isn't exactly the greatest thing, unlike a dash where you can just turn around or dash cancel if you suspect they can react quick enough. Not to mention you don't even have to dash attack, cause Sonic's dash grab great range thanks to his running speed. You could potentially follow up a dash with a grab and tack on more damage than a dash attack or Spin Charge.

    It's a diffference in playstyle, but I think Spin Charge is pretty useless given that there's Spin Dash as well. I think a dash is much safer and gives you more options. And they should have given Sonic a different Down B move, it only reinforces that Sonic was a thrown together last minute addition...

    And you can do the off-stage chase with spin dash as well, but I hardly ever do it because the trajectory is so limited they basically have to be on a set path for you to hit them with anything. I just can't find many situations that would warrent using it at all, sure it's nifty but limited in use. I still haven't managed to use it in a real match. But then again, maybe I'm doing it wrong...

    Sonic's dash grab great range
    Sonic's dash grab great range
    Sonic's dash grab great range
    O_O. . . Not only is that horribly off grammatically (needs a has or something) but correct me if I'm wrong... Sonic has the smallest grab range in the game. Great range? Are we playing the same game? I have to run past my opponent, turn around, and grab him for it to be effective most of the time (taking advantage of the game's throw mechanics...turning around quickly then grabbing immediately increases your grab range.)

    Only when someone's predictable do I ever get lots of dash grabs off

    And you missed the point of the Down B. You forward smash them off the level, hit Down B and hit B 4 more times, then let go, fall off the ledge, and juggle. It's a lot faster than you think. Just try it out.

    Re: Sonic Discussion

    Way to make a big deal out of someone missing a word (yay, zoom quote). I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of that, kinda like a kid with a stick and a pile of poo.

    And it does have range if you run and grab, along with Sonic's speed it's deceptively large and can catch people off-guard. And that's the entire point of what I said, everything Sonic does is to catch people off guard, and with a dash grab you can do that (unless you like running past people giving them time to react). Sonic is one of the best grabbers in the game, all because of his speed. Besides that, I find it much easier to grab with Sonic than I do with Marth or Ike, and a few other characters I play with (except Charizard, grabbing with him is easy).

    Maybe great range was an overstatement, but like hell if it isn't a great thing to do (down/back/up throw rock).

    And the down B thing still seems useless to me, just seems like a normal edgeguard or a spring cockblock would suffice if they're far enough out for you to have to use spin/whatever. I still think you're trying to make something situational into something more mainstream. Believe me, I've tried spin dash/charge chasing, and I have a lot more success with just normal edgeplay. If I smash/hit someone off stage, I damn sure know that I can run to the other side just as quickly if not faster than turning around and setting up an optimal speed spin charge.

    I agree perhaps I was being quite a bit harsh on that one but just... I thought it was common knowledge that Sonic's grab range sucks ><;;

    Sorry. It is indeed amazing though when you pull it off. I just wish you know... it was actually better ><;;

    Re: Sonic Discussion

    I never found it hard to grab people at all, his range isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I certainly wouldn't call it the worst. I mean, is there some place where you see the data on people's grab range and Sonic is at the bottom? If that's the case then I would have no choice but to concede, but as it stands I reckon as far as grab range goes you could do a lot worse. For example, even though Lucas has a longer range grab he's absolutely terrible at actually grabbing people. Least for me.

    Re: Sonic Discussion

    Grab range is determined by the character's body (except for the case of tethers), some characters have ridiculous range for their grabs (marth, though it's still nothing like it was in melee) while some others have some stubby ass ranges (luigi, ike, sonic).
