I'm going to try "lesser known" songs that are amazing by the bigger bands, but obviously it's hard to say lesser known about "classics" heh.

this is what I've been wanting, and also "Lesser Know" bands; Everyone likes zeppelin, doors, floyd, etc.

Does it have to be pure rock? A huge part of the reason country music got so popular was that during the disco days it was the closest you could find to a rock radio station in a lot of places. A lot of the guys from that time played some pretty rock-ish stuff. Lemme dig up a few you might like
