Connection timeout while zoning, FFXI-3001

[Confuse]

My brother recently installed FFXI on his new computer and has some trouble with it now. Almost everytime he zones get a connection timeout(FFXI-3001). Windows firewall is disabled and all ports are forwarded on our router. Anyone had the some problme or can just help with it?

You sure you have the right ports forwarded?
iirc, FFXI uses a different port for each zone.

was getting the exact same timeout problem as the OP, and the same error (3001), prior to the last update I had never exhibited any problems like this before, so it has little to nothing to do witih forwarding ports

i've beed having this issue also. everytime i zone i get timeout.
but what i've noticed, that i'm having it only on my laptop. never on desktop. they are both connected to the same network, without any port forwarding.
