Got a new dog, need name suggestions please :)

Have a new dog. I don't know what to name her, but her name already is Lyka. She's three weeks old and a pure bred husky with papers. I'm going to have her in College Station in a couple weeks, so here's to having a new dog. The only name I have so far is Juno...and possibly Lyra. Any ideas?

Growing up, I had 2 Siberian Huskies. The boy was named Shemya (pronounced "Shih-Mia" which is a small island off the Alaskan coast) and the girl was Nanook ("Nah-nuck" I dont remember what this meant). They rocked. I always liked those names!

To piggyback off your thread, my cousins Miniature Schnauzers got it on and they believe that she got pregnant, if she did, Im going to adopt one of the puppies. The father is bright white and the mother is a dark, dark charcoal grey, almost black. I assume that the pups will be a mixture of both parents colors and inbetween. I need to think of a name. Help me out!!

Also, a question. The above pictured dogs ears have been cropped. I have read there is a controversy surrounding cropping ears and tails. I do like the look of the cropped ears, but what are other peoples opinions?

From what I read, its done while theyre puppies and theyre under anesthesia(sp) so there is minimal pain. But some consider it "mutilation." I personally like the look and think that since there is little pain it wouldnt be so bad, but I dont know enough about it or have first hand experience. This will be my first time adopting a dog of my own as opposed to my parents doing it.

My father and stepmother have a Giant Schnauzer -- like 120 lbs of schnauzer. Mom decided -not- to get the ears cropped, and I have to say I'm glad she didn't. Tail was cropped (we didn't have a say in the matter), but the nub jokes are worth it.

Why are you glad they didnt crop the ears? You prefer the look?

My aunt told me that the puppies will come with the tails cropped and first set of shots. Im allowing that because I really dont know better. Although maybe "Nubbin" would make a fitting name. :]
