Actually it does, since items tend to depreciate over time. The people from the earlier distro-ed run tends to get more gil.

As an outsider mashing F5, I'd just like to point out the fact that however successful or unsuccessful you are on your server, you're pretty much judged solely on your ability to argue on forums. It's a great ego booster for people who aren't big shots on their server; but also a good slap in the face to people who are big shots but can't actually argue.
