Why bother praying that she lives anyway, if shes going to heaven you should be celebrating she gets to go early.
um.... in the article it says the girl that died was the youngest of three or four children. I hope the rest of the childeren were taken away by social services, but the article dosen't seem to say. I hope it's a no-brainer
I sometimes hope that all people that think that way get to go to heaven early as well.Originally Posted by Blarg

This is sadly nothing new, the only difference here is that the family doesn't have a particular religion they prescribe to, so...well, they have even less support network to try to go about keeping people alive in other ways than just praying.
I always thought Amish was a way of life, not a religion, interesting.
My mom works in a hospital, and she often gets Amish in from northern Wisconsin. The treatments they are allowed to receive are limited, but to their credit the entire village will do whatever it takes to keep an injured member in good care and collectively do whatever they can to pay for treatment (they don't have medical insurance). That's the support network that these idiot parents are missing from their "religious health care" for their kids.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
I just read up on that wiki article about amish and it looks like they have a really strong tight knit community.
I guess that's the huge difference like your post said, the parents of the dead baby seem to be thrown in blind, thinking they can wish things away, the Amish have the understanding of medicine to help with life threatening illnesses it seems![]()
Good job. You decided to rely on your imaginary friend instead of concrete medical knowledge and now your youngest daughter is dead because of your rampant stupidity. It occurs to me that there's a chance nobody asked her if she thought God was going to save her; she may not have adhered to this strict fanaticism, and has now paid for her parent's beliefs with her life.
If you don't believe in doctors, then starting a medical procedure (even a simple one) such as CPR to attempt to revive a person flies in the face of the ideals that led to this tragedy happening in the first place.
Freedom of religion in this country doesn't mean you can impose those beliefs upon others, and is contingent on the fact that your practice does not cause harm to others.
Was there ever an update on what happened to the parents? I hope their other kids are taken away and they never see them ever again.
If they want to see their kids again, they can just pray that God will deliver the kids back to them RIGHT!?!?!?!?!!??!

I coulda sworn i saw this on an episode of house once.
There was a Scrubs episode where a jehovas witness was refusing a blood transfusion and Dr. Cox was like, "Well it looks like you're going to suffer from a serious case of DEADNESS then!"Originally Posted by Doofus
Yeah there was an episode of babylon 5 with a couple refusing treatment for religious beliefs that fit better, but i figured it was a more obscure reference than house >.>Originally Posted by Izzy

They obviously did this all on purpose. They're just using the bible stuff as an excuse as to why they did not take her to the doctor. She has recently been taken out of public school to home school....so it makes me go hmmmm.
Exorcism of Emily Rose GO! Watched that for the first time last night. Are we really sure it WAS diabetes and not Wilford Brimley possessing her?
Diabetes IS actually Wilford Brimley possessing someone.Originally Posted by BrillCS
