Something not mentioned yet, for whatever reason, some people of one gender identify as the other, from birth. There is nothing unnatural about this, despite what society teaches. For example, black kids have been picked on for being "dumber" and more apt to resort to fists in order to solve problems rather than their brains. Do you think that acting dumber and trying to fight kids because i'm black would resolve or escalate the situation?

I'm a big proponent of school uniforms, but I don't think it would have helped in this situation. If he was openly gay and they kids wanted to rip on him for it, they'd of done it if he was wearing slacks and a tie, or a dress and high heels. While one party is fully to blame for the shooting, the prior provocations are attributed to both parties. One for being intolerant to ones orientation, and the other for not turning a cheek (assuming they weren't physically harming him, none the less, he should have reported any hatred toward him). I know, biblical quote, yada yada ya. It holds salt. Best way to get someone to leave you alone is to simply no react to them. It works on all levels, from Infancy to death. Great example is regarding the comment venus and serena's dad made regarding racism. When asked, both venus and serena said "I don't react to it", and the story was over right there.

The point I was making is that if people who aren't openly homophobic would resort to hurting a gay person who made advances towards them, what GOOD would come of making advances towards people who are ridiculing him in public? They'd just keel over and apologize?
