I'm getting a ghost menu when I right click.

Here's what happens.

Then, oddly, after I have 1 ghost image that won't go away, it will not ghost itself again unless I can make the ghost go away, and redo it (other words, I can't have more than 1 ghost image on the screen at one time).

It only does this when I click on the top title bar, the task bar/start bar, and the desktop. Refreshing the desktop does not make the ghost disappear, the only thing that I've found to make it go away without rebooting is going into display settings and changing the screen resolution, then changing it back.

i get it occassionaly, not like a constant thing happening over and over with any type of frequency, usually happens when a lot of other stuff is going on at the same time, or some other program happens to grab the mouse focus as i am right clicking the desktop

I used to get this on my Vista machine, until a random Windows Update stopped it. I wish I remember which it was

Used to get simlar things when drag-clicking to select mutiple icons.
F5 on Desktop fixed it.

Try turning off Fade effects.
Open System Properties, Select Change Advanced System Properties from the right, select the advanced tab and click the "Settings" button under the Performance area.

On that Window, uncheck:
Fade or Slide Menus into view.
Fade or Slide Tooltips into view.
Fade out menu items after clicking.
