Set /away so the mule can't receive tells. It'll still be able to chat over LS.

GM override that feature and can still /tell you. Something as simple as a tell detector to halt further communication would be a quick fix to that or random generated messages o.o "Oh sorry I can't talk right now, off to work" /logout

One cool thing I noticed with all the linkshell chat being forwarded into IRC, those IRC channel stat applications could be used to show random stats on most talkative ls member, most used word in ls chat, etc.

FFXI-app has been able to do this for months

    Web Based LS Chat
-View and Chat with your your LS from anywhere!
-Requires someone to host a php file.

This is true. I have had 2 occasions where calling a GM was necessary due to camping drama and both instances that I has my status as /away and the GMS were still able to communicate to me without issue. So yes, it does and can happen.

Is this programming only workable for english language? Or have you considering that to let the mule able to read/output/input other kinds of language in ls chat?

Language would not be an issue if the mule has IME installed.

In any case, the reason I'm not sharing the code is threefold. First, it would present a security risk. I'd have to cut major parts of it out in order to keep our site secure, which is priority one. Second, it's not like it's a program that you can just double click and run, or load into windower easily. Just getting it to run takes some knowhow and a basic understanding of how programming works. If I released it to everyone I'd be answering their questions for the next six hundred years. I know I'm not the only engineer that plays FFXI. The key is knowing the design, and other engineers can run with that. Lastly, it's very much written to integrate directly with the Orion's Door website. Just giving the code for Chatlink would still require people to code up their own web chat solution, or java applet, or however they might want to go about it. I just happened to go with Smartor's chatbox mod because it was easy to set up.

Edit: That being said, I'm totally willing to help other people set up their own implementation. That's why I posted in the first place. I'll be happy to make design suggestions and help people when they get stuck, because most likely I will have already gotten stuck in the same place once before.

    P.S. I'm just another Manthra.
I don't see why this would really pose any potential security risk, unless you took a whole lot of shortcuts with the code. Just cut out any server details, etc, and you should be fine. It's not like you're using any super secret method to connect with your website.

I would say any person with the coding ability to implement this would hardly need to see the design you posted to implement this - It's pretty basic. Take logs, parse them, upload to web server, insert into database. Download from database, parse, insert into game.

That being said, cool implementation. I like it.

Language would not be an issue if the mule has IME installed.
Doesnt look like language would be a problem to me at all, to me it sounds like all the mule is there for is to send the packets to FFXI without it looking fishy. As long as the webclient-chat-thing can accept multiple languages and can keep the language intact while sending it to the mule and while the mule is forwarding it, everything should go just fine. IME shouldnt even be an issue for the mule.
You must be retarded. Language is relevant because its using the mule; not as a means to "send packets without looking fishy" but because its using essentially windower macros to send to the client. If they can't input Japanese into the game without it showing up as "????????" then it's not going to work is it? Perhaps you should read the OP before making a stupid post like this.

Hi Miisha, how did you implement the "3. FFXI to PC" part? Thanks :)

iPhone part is just pointing the built in web browser at the chat script. It isn't anything particularly interesting vs the rest of the stuff.
