    Re: Hardest Storyline Battles.

Battle of the Four elements- FFIV (only in the chronicles edition, the SNES version was way easier.)

Zeromus - FFIV. That fight sucks unless you spend the 209387492374902837 years leveling up Rydia to get Meteo at like... level 85 or something, and even then... Big bang is totally retarded.

Wiegraf/Velius - FFT same reasons everyone has said before.

I can't remember exactly... but I think it was Riki's game in Saga frontier where the only way you could beat him was by doing certain level combinations, (partially based on luck,) otherwise you just lose.

Ramriez from Skies of Arcadia is kind of a bitch

Luca Blight from Suikoden II (already been mentioned)

Thats all I can think of right now, more to come, I'm sure.

Your image isn't showing up, but if that isn't Che Delilas... it fails.

I think that's the only fight I lost.
Not sure why he was so much harder than the other Delilas siblings, but fuck... he tore me up pretty bad.

And yeah, if Che Delilas was the guy with the Megatron Hammer tech, then he can rot too

Oh fuck, I remember Xain now.
I didn't get a game over on that guy, but yeah, that fight was annonying too.
But yeah, Che is the one with Megaton Press... easily the most devastating normal enemy tech in the entire game and it doesn't require any charging up.

I say normal because there's that one move that Koru (I think) does that blows everything up if you don't kill it fast enough or something?
I've never seen it, but I hear it does mass fucking damage... and then blows up the whole kingdom. (I assume there's a cutscene that shows it... that's what the guy who told me about it made it sound like. I didn't ever see it due to point card abuse though.)

Oh shit- people played Legend of Legaia? I loved that fucking game. The escape theme is one of the best PS1 themes ever D:

The Delilas trio were challenging, the solo battles were fun - 1st Cort fight was challenging and most of the bosses overall, you could get owned in a hurry if you arent expecting things.

Yeah, Koru was the guy on the turn limit - i never exactly got to lose seeing as i was told what would happen if i didnt win in the time limit ;3

I think the hardest battle in that entire game... was making money. (without the soru bread trick) Id farm for ages, buy the best armor and then go to the next town and find out all my shit is obsolete and everythings 2x as expensive.

    :D

Legaia was win though, far superior to Legaia 2: Duel Saga

Zophar or whatever his name was from Lunar 2 can bite me. I remember throwing myself at him like 6 times in a sitting and getting my ass handed to me, only to pick up the game a few months later and beat him first try after forgetting most of his moves and some of my old tactics. I guess it's just one of those, "pray he doesn't spam X move" type fights.

I remember sitting around trying to farm various seru mobs for their spells to finish my magic list, then casting over and over to level them up. Being a completist is fun!

I remember trying to get the water ra-seru egg...

I read that it was like 15k fishing point, I told myself that's fucking impossible and would take too long.

I think about 6 hours of non stop fishing and few dozen triple ringer lippians later, I got the damn thing...

I got that on my second playthrough I think. Probably took more like 3 or 4 hours though.

    Re: Hardest Storyline Battles.

I cok it up to me playing the shit out of FFT while on calls @ work, but my first time to the roof of Riovanne's had me going "wtf, THAT was IT?!" because I literally won in one move.

Then I tried it again trying to learn ultima. Yeah, that didn't go so well.

The OMGWTFBBQ moment for me was in FF7 on the way to the crater against the 2 headed dragon. I was really underleveled, I didn't have any level 2 magic's (thanks rune accessories! I mean, who the hell needs magic?), I didn't have Barret in my party, (it was @ a place you couldn't swap members without going allll the way out of back to the cabin or something stupid like that. Ah, the days of not being able to change party members @ save points) and if you didn't have a ranged attack materia you where fucked.

So yeah, that sucked something hard.

Oh, and any boss fight on Disc 2 of Lunar 1, and the Dune wanna be guy in Lunar 2.

That reminds me, trying to get Ultima and at least one piece of Elmdor's equipment all out of the battle with him and his assassins should've been on my list.

How about, Hardest Boss Fight Situation?

Trying to not use Dragon Power against bosses in BoF:DQ (aka BoF 5 for those of you not keeping track) on a non-replay game or without grinding.

Seriously, that was hard as hell to stay away from using and you lost a lot because you wouldn't even abuse a little bit of it, unless you grinded all to hell.

Hmmm i dunno, getting genji isnt too hard if you use math skill to slow elmdor and just keep breaking his speed until he's practically stopped.

start with his shield, then everything else is fairly easy to steal, especially if you keep yelling at your THF.

    Re: Hardest Storyline Battles.

Most RPGs it's as tough as you make it for yourself. The Shin Megami Tensei series are usually challenging as RPGs go.

FFVIII the mutated Pres was brutal because I saved on the train right before the fight (no random battles) and i was like level 15 because I had ran through the storyline like crazy. The mutated Pres is one of the only mobs in the game that has a set level at 20 and he uses freaking mean statuses. Thank god Selfie has the ability to spam cures with her limit break otherwise I'd have been restarting that game.

FFIX I did a similar thing by running through everything avoiding a lot of combat and finally got to the that big manta ray thing in that cave/grotto and used up 99 potions and a bunch of other stuff, lol. Decided it was time to grind a bit.

I can swear in FF7 you could use PHS at save points? :O or was that at some point in the game that you couldn't? I don't remember... Schizo was pretty damn nasty though, first time through.

The hardest bosses I found not to use it against were ... don't know their names. It's the combined version of the two fallen hunters you kill straight after killing Zeno. At any rate, I always found him nigh-on-impossible without. There was great temptation to use them during the Bosch battles as well, especially when he starts Dragonslayer spamming (or whatever it's called) =/ Where else do I remember being difficult? Maybe some of the regents? Been too long.

    Lessee, particularly hard bosses...

Suikoden 1 - Sonya Shulen, I dunno why ... I was severely underlevelled and badly equipped at the time (I was quite young) and for some reason found her very hard =/
Suikoden 2 - Final beast rune thing can be quite hard if you're not super-prepared, or at least I find so.
FF2 - The last boss or the monsters inside the chests in the last dungeon (not a storyline battle I know). Either I was doing something wrong or they were ludicrously hard.
    FF4 - Zeromus. 'nuff said.
FF5 - X-Death in his castle during the second world I have always found fairly difficult.
FF6 - I found AtmaWEAPON really hard the first time I fought him, same with Atma. On subsequent playthroughs they were still tough but not as destructive as they were to me.
FF7 - Schizo was fairly tough. Didn't like Bizarro Sephiroth much the first time either; I was underlevelled and my attacks per round did less or slightly greater than the Bizarro Cures were healing. Was challenging. Safer Sephiroth I didn't like because of the nasty status effects :X
FF8 - Adel I have never liked, not quite sure why...
FF9 - Necron can really be a bitch if he uses Neutron Ring (the high damage to all one) and Grand Cross (lots of status effects to all) in quick succession =X
FFX - Seymour Flux. Horrible boss. I know a lot of people have trouble with this guy, and a lot of people find him easy. Saw that cutscene so many times...

I've played many more RPGs but those are the fights which stand out in my mind (in fairness, I've played/replayed the FFs and Suikodens the most so I'm probably forgetting some).

    Re: Hardest Storyline Battles.

Seymour Flux is easy after you realize that you just need to have all your Aeons at Overdrive before the battle, then it's almost automatic win. Without that though it's a really tough battle, I ended up beating him the first time by landing Bio on him and just keeping my people alive.
