Hardest Storyline Battles.

For some reason that chick knight in FF9 messed me up everytime I had to fight her.

You only have to survive like 8 rounds lol.

The battle where Ramza is stuck behind the gate with Gafgarion raped my face.

My friends swore that Demon Wall from FF7 was a pain in the ass beyond all belief, but I used Aeris' "Seal Evil" limit break and froze him in place for several turns while killing him mercilessly. Their response to that was "Only fags use Aeris."

Fighting Yunalesca in FFX before the ability to quest the ultimate weapons was pretty tough. After getting the break damage limits and stuff like that, the story fights were over in two turns.

Final Songi battle in Legend of Legaia

That game is a nightmare as it is, but that battle is designed to destroy self esteem, I had one character left at the end of the fight and one hit from death when I beat him.

My vote goes to Xenogears with Grahf's gear in Raziel. Some people didn't even know it was beatable for years and just accepted the obligatory "you must lose story-line" afterwards.

Also before Lunar: SSS came out I got it as a demo with a Playstation I bought and for some reason they had the option to give the ocarina to that little gay cat dragon guy. I could use the saved game from the demo when the real game came out and it was good and all till the end when you have to play it for the chick. Ended up having to play the whole game over just to see the ending after having beaten the final boss.

Beatrix is set up to win most of those, just part of the plotline.

Breath of Fire 5: Dragon Quarter.

Granted you're not even really supposed to beat it the first time through, it's hard as shit. Especially considering the fact that you might use your Dragon abilities recklessly the first time through not knowing that you blew it and you'll be consumed before you even reach the last areas. If you haven't played it, it expects you to lose (permanently) before you beat it and each time you restart, you start from the beginning with all your gear still and each repeated cutscene will be longer and reveal more details and bring more and more closure to understanding characters/motives. Although, each time you start over, the mobs are all stronger. It's such a weird system, I don't think a lot of people were into it.

Recently beat it, as long as you save enough exp to level into lv 20 by the end of the ice place, the game is pretty easy.
Unfortunately, you don't really know that going in first time/second time and the game seems impossible :/
