Kosuke Fukudome looked great. 3-3, 2B, HR, 3 RBI. Good day for him, but yeah. Cubs still lost so meh.Originally Posted by Darkevolution
Tigers lost to the Royals. Bullpen issues again.
Tigers bullpen FTW
I was watching online until the 10th, when I realized it was on ESPN2 - was Gagne's 3-run blown save any worse than Wood's giving up 3 runs in the top of the 9th?Originally Posted by Akiyama
Nope. To me, a blown save is a blown save. Just the way Fukudome tied the game like that in his first game as a Cub in Chicago was really awesome. I have hope for Kerry Wood though, assuming he stays healthy. I don't have hope for Gagne. He's just completely lost his stuff.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane

AL:
East- Yanks
Central- Indians
West- Angels
WC- Sox
NL:
East- Mets
Central- Brewers
West- Dodgers
WC- Rockies
alot of people are on the tigers train right now but im nottheir bullpen isnt good enough to last the season nor is the rest of thier rotation after verlander(as u can tell, they fell apart yesterday)
Astros gettin off to a great start!!!! We can't even score a run!!! then again, Peavy was pitching so thats understandable...
Don't worry Astro fans, with Ed Wade running the ship you'll be seeing stuff like that for a long time
Anyway my predictions:
NL East - Mets
NL Central - Cubs
NL West - Dbacks
NL Wildcard - Phillies
NL Champ - Phillies
AL East - Red Sox
AL Central - Indians
AL West - Angels
AL Wildcard - Yankees
AL Champ - Red Sox
World Series - Red Sox over Phillies in 6 games
There don't seem to be any "complete" teams this season, they all have their flaws that can make or break them, so I'm going with my gut instinct.
i'm really happy with how the white sox offense played yesterday, even though buerhle sh*t the bed in the 2nd inning, i know he won't pitch anywhere near that badly over the course of the season, ending up with a 3.5-3.7 ERA at the end of the year by going off his career averages
meanwhile swisher and cabrera really helped out our offense tremendously, they showed a lot of heart, trailing the cy young winner of the AL 7-2 in the 2nd inning, and if it weren't for two blown calls (AJ beating out a throw to first base, because the umpire wasn't in position to see the call, unacceptable, and crede being phantom tagged out at home when the glove didn't even graze his jersey), and a call that was not consistently called twice yesterday between garko and cabrera sliding hard into second base, we might've won the game.
but even with the loss, we came back and scored 6 more runs off Sabathia+Betancourt+Perez. our offense should be great this year compared to last year
That is debatable. but I'm a little concerned with Kerry. Watching him over the years it usually takes him a few innings to get loosened up. while he did ok last year in the relief role and this spring he is really wild at times which can come back and bite him in the ass. my prediction is Marmol will be closing by the end of the season and Wood/howry will be setting him up.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane
I learned a while back not to give *too* much thought to how someone performs in Spring Training. It's like NFL Pre-Season. Not many of them try all that hard. You could take Kosuke Fukudome for example. He outhit the entire Cubs team by himself, lol.Originally Posted by Rhinox
Yeah, just hope we can find a place to hit Soriano he is not a leadoff hitter and he is not a 2 hole hitter. just hope the Brian roberts deal isnt dead and we can move Theriot to 2nd hole. seems like he flourished there last year.
I'm a Braves fan, but I'm a baseball fan first and I like following other teams. I agree about Soriano not being a lead-off hitter for sure. I'd like to see him in the 3 spot really, but you don't want to push Lee, Ramirez, or Fukudome down any further.Originally Posted by Rhinox
