Design on the female lead isn't bad. Truthfully though, the Star Ocean games have never had awe inspiringly original characters in any incarnation really (Star Ocean 2 was slightly better then the rest of the series however). Real make or break factor is the combat system, since 1/2 both had excellent combat systems. 3, not so much imo.

In my opinion 3's combat system was the absolute best in any Star Ocean game, and better than most RPGs out there period.

I loved the AAAs and the various techs you could do and being able to combo without even using techs was great, then the cancel bonus deal.
It was all gravy.

Star Ocean's battle systems in general is one of the main reasons I love Star Ocean so much. The only thing I hated about 3 is that you were KO'd if you ran out of MP

MP death was really annoying (especially once you start fighting the Executioners), and I didn't overly enjoy the fact that you had to spam heal your characters so they could keep doing techniques.

Me either, but I was probably overleveled like usual, plus I never really bothered with techs outside of endgame/postgame fights. And I got started on item creation as soon as I could.

I'm happy in my pants. SO2: Again and SO4 = dream come true. While I've loved the battle styles in 1-3, I liked the story a lot more, even if characters come across as generic. D: I can't wait for the new Star Ocean, though.

VP doesn't get me nearly as excited. While I loved it, I liked SO more. :/

Woah. That's pretty awesome, VP3 especially. Lots of rpgs coming to look forward to. Infinite Undiscovery looks interesting too. I agree about Hrist needing her own game, she was oh so sexy in VP2!

If it's made my Tri-Ace I have faith it'll be fun. I don't remember playing a Tri-Ace game I didn't enjoy.

Though characters and story are another thing, but I'm sure it won't be that generic.

You just described every RPG Tri-ace has ever made. That's not really a knock since I love the Star Ocean games, but all of them usually have horrendous voice acting and stories.

Star Ocean 4 has been announced for the XBOX 360 and set for release sometime in 2009.

At a press conference held by Microsoft in Japan, Square Enix and Microsoft announced that the next Star Ocean game will be released on Xbox 360 in 2009.

The game, officially titled Star Ocean: The Last Hope, is in a playable state right now and will have a science fiction feel to it. Though a trailer for the game presented by Yoshinori Yamagishi, producer of the game, ended with the words "for Xbox 360," there was no mention of the title being exclusive to the system.

So is the game coming to the PS3 as well?

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi cleared things up during a roundtable interview session that followed the press conference. Asked if the game is 360-only, he said, "We cannot announce anything on that. We can say that it will be released first [on the Xbox 360]. Whether we'll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not."

I dint care what system their on, I just want new rpgs to play, I finished lost odd and well blur dragon was meh, so the front looks nice.
