There's always 4chan, icanhascheezburger, photobucket, imageshack..

And you can find stuff on Google image search if you put in the right query.

The nsfw image threads provide what you're looking for. It requires trivial amounts of effort to pull them up and if you can't be arsed to do that then I can't imagine what good advice like 'go look up animations on deviantart' will do for you if it's all too 'mainstream' for your tastes.

i've read the threads. something like what Foof has provided was what I was looking for. different ones in thumbnail form. if i wanted to sift through page after page of 2 pics accompanied by useless comments that do not pertain to said thread, i would not have asked this question and continued to read them. thanks for trying to be constructive though.

with the clear proof some people show of being unable to use the search function or looking through related threads, or even google-ing it, i can understand why its assumed i hadn't either. yes, i should have made that clear in the OP. however, i had already looked through that. while the Random Image/NSFW threads contain gifs, they aren't sites themselves. thats what i was looking for.

i asked it here because there's no doubt a better answer would be given here rather than google. google's results showed sites with the humor of what appeared to be a 7th grader.

It's actually impossible to tell what you want since you posted zero examples of the kind of thing you're looking for.

Animated .gif files aren't some kind of widespread art medium. Yes, some people do release work purely as animated .gif files (like the chinese made 'delinquent asian kid' series) but 99.999999% of actual worthwhile animation work is not being released as .gif. You say you want 'underground' stuff well guess what: You were given jj.am, 4chan and 10 random image threads, which is where I would go if I needed a funny/interesting gif fix. I also visit a lot of animation blogs (example: Paul Robertson's blog), but not being '.gif sites' they didn't seem up to your repeated, vague criteria. You could also check deviantart as every now and then good stuff ends up there. But I can't help but get the impression that you want some kind of moderated, filtered source for free gigabytes worth of the best animated gifs. I don't think such a site exists anymore. If it does, it won't exist for long because shit like that stopped existing for free on the internet sometime around 1999. Or its run by assholes who watermark everything they steal from other sites (*cough*ebaum*cough*) and sell ads.

Yeah, Correction. Foof had posted what I had in mind, and Olo added a few too. I thanked him and the thread could have been locked there, but people may have known of other sites along the lines of jj.am.
