Anyone with a high school education should know what a phalanx is. Not to mention the whole world should know since 300 came out.

I'm well aware it was used correctly, and did you happen to notice the phalanx of stunners MISSED the firaga3 in question? And is there really a mob in FFXI that one needs a PHALANX of stunners, when one red made could serve the same purpose? It's fucking BABY Suzaku for christ's sake.

The only people that make Milkman look good, by comparison, are the people defending him in this thread.

I agree with you, certainly the best way to advertise the game is to make blog posts like "what I really want is a Ridill and Algol but the assholes who camp and bot in Dragon's Aery make that impossible".

That's the experience of a good majority of the FFXI playerbase though. Maybe not with that exact rationale, but the end result is the same. They'd like king items, but the time commitment of camping, and the likelihood that you won't claim, make it less than appealing to pursue them.

The majority of his post is about what he -is- doing, not about what he can't/won't do. So in that respect is positive for the game.

However...
There are aspects of FFXI endgame that exhibit exceptionally poor design. Kings have been pointed at even here for years with no change. I wouldn't expect someone to sugarcoat losing a Dynamis zone because some other group beat them to it either. They'll probably be less than kind in discussing motives or character of people who entered. Still, their viewpoint is there because of SE's poor design decisions. Ones they've been given feedback on, and have chosen not to address. They damn well don't deserve good press for ignoring users.

A few jabs at what amounts to SE's design might actually be helpful. They might actually listen to him, considering his audience. But then again it's SE, they'd listen if it was a request for a new color of Chocobo, not for something endgame.

However, when you intentionally target and attempt to piss off a portion of your potential reader base, you're not going to get a free pass.

This would be a non-story if Milkman didn't go out of his way to proactively slam something he has no clue about. Instead he sits up on stage and stammers off in a more retarded manner than Miss Teen South Carolina about his "endgame experience." That's like a certain LS telling me there's effort involved in claiming Vrtra or Jormy (which was followed by a swift /facepalm). So of course he's going to take a few hits from the community if he's bragging that he just now killed Kirin.

I agree, some of his post is a bit misinformed. But, of course, we all have our own viewpoints and experiences too.

He's not bragging he just killed Kirin. He's posting about how his current LS is now starting to do it, after having farmed Limbus a zillion times.

Was there any particular reason for him to call the rest of his server's endgame "assholes"? It just comes across sounding like e-thuggery. I hardly know this guy, but that one sentence instantly puts him into perspective to me. If this is his kind of attitude, I can see why people don't like him.

If you're his friend, you owe it to him, to set him straight on this. Have him post an apology.

It loses some credibility when the source probably cannot /sea dragonsaery because he has never zoned into the place.

It's one thing to bitch about things you have actually attempted to do, another to just spout off for no reason. If you really want a Ridill, show up on day 1-2 and it's truly not that bad. To be fair, it helps to be on the server in question to know a little more backstory.

As far as the comment on Algol, it's like Vail said earlier, Cerb is definitely camped here. At least you can buy one if you like (hell farm more sky and spend that gil on one), no camping needed.

That still doesn't change the fact that he blew the ground HNM thing way out of proportion. If he knew how HNM windows worked, killed darters, and coordinated everyone to try to claim when a window is open then that Ridill wouldn't seem so impossible.
