(If I'm mistaken please correct me~) While it's easy to agree STR doesn't have a profound impact on the WS it still helps raise the base damage. With the 2H patch 3/4 STR is transfered to attack. If you were to ignore accuracy for a second and compare Hecatomb Head vs Ares Head, STR+11 vs Attack+12, it might look like the Attack+12 would help more. But 3/4 of the STR from Heca is added to your attack. Being generous here, it would be STR+11 Attack+8 vs Attack+12, which reduces to STR+11 vs Attack+4. The base damage increase from the STR is going to outweigh the small attack increase. Thats just an example, as it becomes a similar comparision between full ares and a mixed set, and it comes down to a large amount of STR vs Attack and DA+5%. When you consider that merit party situations will probably have attack buffs + meat, and land you close to the attack cap, I think the mixed set /w extra STR(which adds a large amount of attack also) wins. I did the maths once, but I'm sure someone here can write up a good comparision /w the math. (I'm halfway out the door, hope that all made sense.)
