This is my breakdown - currently at 3/5 pieces.
Marduk's Tiara:
Pretty much full time on BRD currently so I don't have to pull AF2 out of storage for head. Not sure exactly what I'll do if I ever get the AF2+1.
Nearly full time on SMN, except for using BP before swapping into skill/ava attack gear, and with appropriate weather when horn lowers avatar cost.
Divine setup on WHM, for Repose, Flash, Banish etc.
Marduk's Jubbah:
BRD full time, outside of buff casts (March, Minuet, Ballad, etc), which start off in Yigit then swap for the Refresh and so that the CHR piece is in place for offensive song usage after.
Standing set on WHM for fast cast combo on Haste, Regen (start off, then swap to AF2 body), the stupidly long -nas like Blindna, Prot/Shell, and Raises (start in Marduk and end in Nashira for better recast than its Fast Cast offers). Also to keep on for Martyr usage for higher HP (why I use Intensifying Cape for and don't even own any -HP style rings or earrings anymore), since it cannot really be setup like Devotion can. And then of course, Devotion.
Standing on SMN, no reason except the higher MP and HP max, as much as that counts with changing shit out all the time, and it's pretty. And for faster summoning casts.
Marduk's Shalwar:
Full time on BRD. I carry around a few other pieces and never even swap them out.
Pretty much full time on SMN for skill, outside AF2 pants for summoning avatars and usage on BP ability, before swapping back to Marduk for the actual pact.
Don't even bother for WHM.
Hands are more trinket, really. I'd throw them on in my RTFA (run the fuck away) macro, for the Regen, since there's not much else to put on hands.
Feet would go in Cure V macro, WHM enfeebling set, and would negate need for Nashira Crackows on SMN... and be prettier standing around in with Shalwar than AF1+1 (as well as offer better max MP setup.. which doesn't really do anything what with all the gear changing anyway, but it's a nice concept). Could also throw into String setup for those times I'm stuck BLM pt BRD, or something similar (like Kaeko running away from me consistently in Salvage - no Storm Fife ballad for you... though regular is better than none!), and NO ONE HOLDS STILL.
Yea I guess...I'd still take a manteel though Q_QOriginally Posted by Sylphet

@ Izzy I don't have a dalmatica though so it's my only refresh body for BRD. It is also the best (semi) easily available body for debuffs and White Magic on BRD. I use Manteel, Jubbah, Minstrel's and Osode daily on BRD. Need to get my hands on a shadow coat someday though. :DOriginally Posted by Sylphet
What's the Osode for now that you have jubbah?
Also, if I had a manteel and gomlek (or easy enough access to gomlek), I'd sell the manteel in a second to fund a jubbah if I had to. As it was, I had no manteel, and just fished like a madman >.>
Defense gear.

The above gear + tacos = win
BRDs often end up tanking at events like Einherjar and this gear set helps to keep me alive (along with our mages who have become accustomed to hasting and curing BRDs who are on heavy crowd control duty). I should probably pick up a minstrel's earring too.. can't hurt.
I just sold mine this week to buy 6 ingots (sold it for 4.8 mil since ingots have been ~800k/ea... and wouldn't you know it, the gdamn price of them spikes ~_~') and downgraded back to my Gomlek. People have asked me if Jubbah is that much better than a manteel and I explained it like this (because I'm not quite the obsessive min-maxxer that some bards are): gomlek for meripo, jubbah for everything else. Considering I haven't merited on BRD since like, September or something, it's a worthwhile trade off imo.Originally Posted by Bakthi
Might try using Marduk Dastanas instead of Seiryu's Kote if you can give up the max-HP. 20hp a minute will probably give you more survivability than 6 def.Originally Posted by Sylphet
Yeah Aurik, I agree in theory but in practice, there's no way that I'm going to be using this gear for a minute and still be alive so in the end I chose the HP and Def over the regen. It's mostly used immediately post pulls in xp and in einherjar for literally a few seconds when my ass is getting beat on to make sure that mages have the time to cure me. I have used it to kite Chigoes that spawn from Marid boss in Einherjar buuuuut now with SCH that's not really needed lol. if I need it for something prolonged I just manually swap out the gloves.
Did my own testing as well.
It is in fact 5% Fast Cast (2.5% recast) on the body, and 5% Fast Cast (2.5% recast) on the set, for a grand total of 10% Fast Cast and 5% recast with the set equipped, as Sylphet said.
The body isn't 4%/2% like failwiki portrays.
Tested using Rostrum which are a proven 1% on recast, and deductive reasoning.
Kinda meh. <_<
Full Marduk to start Raise cast > Swap to Haste before it finishes is a good use, right?
As Lyra said, not worth the cost, but it would be handy for shit like bad Dyna pulls.
Same thing for Teleports, though you basically never bump into the recast timer on a Teleport, unless you're doing the cast > mog house thing, but I think that resets timer anyways?
Swap to Haste if you have more than 5% in the 5 slots yeah. I dunno what options WHMs have there, since it's my wife's character rather than mine. XDOriginally Posted by Max™
Turban
Saio
Blessed Mitts
Blessed Legs
Blessed Feet
For Brd there is Dusk hands I believe, Haidate, and Dusk or Sha'ir feet.
All three jobs wind up with Reraise on, and often having to chuck out a few raises when a group of people die, given that they're up first.
I can see choosing s.kote for the DEF, but are you usually at full HP after swapping in this gear? From the way the above is worded, it sounds like not. I also wonder if some of the darksteel stuff might not help more in certain slots. It's something I've considered myself, though I certainly haven't tested it.Originally Posted by Sylphet
I gave my Osode back to the LS because there were other people who wanted it, and with all the gear I try to keep around for various jobs, plus fishing, I try not to have stuff that's super-niche, I guess.
I personally use BRD AF+1 gloves for my defense gear set. 7 vit and 14 HP aren't exactly stellar, but at the end of the day, I'm always carrying them around on bard anyway, and don't much care to just carry around Seiryu's Kote for that purpose.
Btw, what are you using in your right ear slot Sylphet? (I use a Musical and Ethereal for the evasion myself, but never paid all that much attention to the earring slot).
As far as the full set on bard goes, it serves two purposes and only two purposes. Number 1 is e-penis gear as a few people have stated. Number 2 is casting your /whm spells faster. The Body, the head and the pants are really nice, but the feet are useless on bard, and the hands are unimpressive aside from their novelty use of auto-regen. Giving up two slots for the set bonus is hardly ever worth it. Maybe Erase spam in a situation where your bard is the only /whm in a given party.
It's just a wind earring lol.
My melody +1s are out on loan but I'd never even think about stacking evasion on BRD. I could go for an HP earring but it's not something that's so important imo. I guess best earring combo for Def gear would be minstrel's/whateva (intruder maybe) but I don't have either of those so I simply don't swap out ear slots in Def gear.
As far as having full HP after changing to defense gear goes.. sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. As I mentioned I use it quite often in Einherjar and our WHMs are trained to support BRDs like they do tanks for that so we get hastes and priority cures so generally speaking I'll get cured pretty quickly if I'm getting beaten on. In XP, I use it a lot as well and I do occasionally cure myself but it's mostly just to prevent short term pummeling.
Darksteel harness is also a good (if horribly ugly) alternative for def gear. The only advantage of Osode is that you do have 10 CHR on it which makes it far better for casting in than darksteel (e.g. for sleeping). Goliard legs too (don't have) would be a nice touch.
I guess it depends on the situation you're using that gear. For taking a beating, darksteel gear should be a bit better. For an extended period of "defense mode", the regen is pretty good. Vistani gets an awful lot of mileage out of his Marduk Hands, but he mainly uses them in places like low-man limbus, where 20hp/min regen allows him to forgo stoneskin, which adds up to a lot of casting time and mp saved.Originally Posted by Sylphet
Personally, when I get this set on my second character (Subway, go figure) I'm wearing it full time.
It is a dream of mine to have my macro swaps consist of switching between Apollo's Staff and Terra Staff.
Sure you can tweak things to be a little bit more effective... but I like simplicity I guess =/
Kind of like resting in Yigit gear on rdm... sure, there might be marginally better options... but damn I look cute.
Recast on teleport spells is like 8 seconds anyway.Originally Posted by Max™
Unless you're talking about for specifically WHM and SMN, than I guess maybe yeah. But it certainly is worth the cost on Bard. I say that because the only expensive pieces on it, are the pieces that BRD can get alot of use out of (Body and head) and the rest are really cheap. So by the getting the pieces of the set that are useful for the job, you kinda in turn work through the expensive stuff and finishing the rest of the set is easy when you look at the cost.Originally Posted by Max™
