Starting over in present-day XI

Hey everyone. I quit about 5 months ago before Christmas, convinced I would never come back, so I deleted my account entirely to make sure I wouldn't.

Now I want to, but I'll have to start from scratch. What is the feasbility of doing so as FFXI currently stands? Should I even bother or should I move on to something else?

You can try getting your acct restored. If you still have friends ingame, and you really enjoy ffxi/addicted, I think it'd be worth restarting.

You can try to do the Acnt. resto If you want. All in all, if you want to come back to FFXI, then do the possible re-roll... all up to how much YOU, as a former player, want to play the game again.

From I understand (and i could be wrong) account can be restored for up to a year. Had a friend quit and delete his account and able to come back after 9 months.

its as feasible as it always was, 5 months isnt that long and only you can decide if you should move on or not~

From the last time I called GM, about a month ago, the GM ended the convo with like 10 lines about the Welcome Back to Vana'diel Campaign. Not sure if its still going on but you can check it out if you don't want to start over.

But as for the game, if you have friends and stuff that still plays, I'd think it might be worth it to come back. If not, its probably better to move on.

Deleting your character is just silly. Cancel your account, that's fine. But leave the character in case you ever want to come back (like this!). It's just a game! Use willpower if you don't want to let yourself play it.

And if you have that strong of a desire to come back and play, just do it! It's just a game!

Play it if you want to and quit if you don't. It's not such a big deal :nikkei:

i changed servers last october and met a dude who was level 60 rdm while doing bastok missions for my new alt (rank 10 lvl 43 wut lol)

anyway with not too much money and a decent amount of time put in, he has since semi retired rdm and has thf and nin 75 (2 75s in 6ish months is not bad imo) and has recently joined a hnm LS as well as doing dynamis 2x weekly

id say go for it, some of the best fun i had was literally starting over with my alt (new char from scratch) although it was obviously easier as there were gross abuses of powerlevelling (chain 6 as lvl 18 taru rdm with no SJ haha -- brd songs were involved >.>)

this game is still fun on all levels, do eeet

If i knew then what i knew now, i never would have ever started playing this game. I didn't.
If you are a hard worker during you're "Leisure" time i would say that you should come back, bring fresh life to the game, again?


Starting over seems like it would be really difficult, i try and be supportive of new players. Sadly i have invested much time building up friendships, and ppls characters, only to have them leave the game before they ever even get to experiance the "End". Much luck on your comeback, if that is what you choose. Your friends will make it worth playing, or you shouldnt play at all ^^.

There's two chances of getting your character back.

1 is through a GM request. This is a one time deal and you cannot have it restored in this manner ever again. By your post it seems likely you've not done this. Information has to be specific, like when your character was last logged out in, job level, sub and whatnot(also I think the content ID has to be "empty"). This all assuming SE hasn't considered this method obsolete because of the below statement. I used this in 2005.

2 is the Return home to vana diel program. It comes around atleast twice year, and when they do is random.

Your content ID can be deactivated for up to 1 year before SE decides to delete it.(used to be 3 months).

I've quit this game 7 times and just came back from a 6 month reprieve lol. Its good advice when people tell you not to delete your character. It really blows hard to have to go through AF all the fuck over again, and most importantly, zilart/cop missions and dumbass G1, G3, G5(G2/4 isnt so bad) ~_~.

See it's not about the return home to vanadiel campaign, it's about me straight up deleting my characters. Which was dumb, I know, as I had a level 75 Thief a high 60s Red Mage and White Mage.

If I did come back I guess I'd do it as a beastmaster since I'll be attending med school soon, and won't have a lot of time to play.

Yes, even still with deleting your chars, there's a chance that you can get them restored.
