I'd personally like to see the Stars, but I don't know how that series is going to go.

yeah the wings are sure as hell choking this year aren't they lol

turco has never won in the jl arena either in his career, just a little fact
Give them time, Wings are bound to choke like they have done the past few years when winning the President's Cup. They really haven't played anyone that could challenge them....Nashville had no right to be in the playoffs, and Colorado was demolished with injuries. The comment about Turco not winning at Joe Louis in his career means nothing, because until this year, he hadn't won any series in the playoffs either. (Or was it only 1 series, I forgot....) He's due.

You sound like a disillusioned fanboy. First of all, the Wings were dropped twice in the first-round in recent years (last year's Conference Finals loss to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Ducks CERTAINLY doesn't qualify as a choke job, imo), 2003 to the Ducks, and 2006 to the Oilers. Both of those teams made it to the Stanley Cup Finals and lost in 7 games (e.g. they were half a game from winning the cup); hardly a comparison worth making to state your case well. (When they won the President's Trophy before the 04 Cup Playoffs they lost to Calgary in the second round, and Calgary eventually lost in the Stanley Cup Finals in 7 games as well )

The Stars have a great team this year, there is no doubt. The Wings look fantastic as well, which means that it should shape up to be quite a good series, especially with the mildly conflicting mentalities of coaching on each side. Barring a sweep in favor of Dallas, there won't be any choking on the part of the Red Wings, and if you're a fan of Dallas, wouldn't you want your team to simply outplay them anyways? Sneaking into the Stanley Cup Finals probably just means that the Stars will get swept by the Pens (yeah, I said it)...
Disillusioned fanboy you say? Hardly. Maybe choking isn't the right word to use, but they haven't won when they needed to/were expected to. I'm not a fan of Dallas, but yes I want them to outplay Detroit. I want ANY team that plays Detroit, to outplay them because I can't stand Detroit....and not just the team, but the city itself. If the Stars were to get past Detroit and end up with the Pens, and got swept, I'd be happy because if you go back to page one, I picked the Pens to win the cup.

Either way, the series will be entertaining assuming there is flow to the game and the Chicken Wings don't use the left wing lock like they did non stop in the 90's, effectively making the games boring to watch with nothing but dump and chase. Dallas in 7.

Of these two names who would you most associate past playoff choke jobs with?

    Marty Turco or Chris Osgood.

The past doesn't mean shit. I would not be shocked to see the Stars win. But I'm willing to bet it's going to go seven games. I'm more amused reading all the comments from the Flyers fans who think that Philly is simply going to walk all over the Pens.

Just remember. The Rangers didn't beat the Penguins in every single regular season game this year. Changed just for Sed ~.^

    VERY FUCKING WRONG LOL.
The actual season series was like 5-3 Rangers.
Research your shit before you make stupid statements.

Montreal beat Philadelphia in every regular season game this year.
    (Only 4, but still)

Let me use your same logic in reverse: The Stars will lose because they have lost in the Quarterfinals the last three playoffs, and the semis the year before that, and Detroit has won the cup since Dallas has. In fact, it's not logic at all, simply defining your personal feelings and then trying to justify them without any merit whatsoever.

As for the Wings not winning when they are expected to, aren't they pretty much expected to win (or have a favoured shot at winning) every single year for the past 10 or more?

BTW, in case you haven't been watching the Wings, they haven't been playing dump and chase for a long time; in fact, Dallas plays closer to that style than the current Red Wings puck possession game. Oh, and btw, you missed the perfect opportunity to use the cliché: "Dead Wings."

And perhaps fanboy was the wrong term, disillusioned hater seems to be the case...

I don't recall any Flyers fan saying they'd walk all over the Pens. Both teams won 4-1 against teams they did not play well against during the regular season, but just because Flyers are the lower seed, have a hot goalie, and are the underdogs, I'd say they have the edge as far as momentum.

All of that could be ruined if we don't play well in Pittsburgh. Its a long way from Tuesday when we get back home....and things could be very different.

Sorry Sed didn't mean to offend your tender sensibilities. One of our broadcasters had said it before the series began. I just assumed it was correct information. Get the fucking sand out of your vag. And it was 3-3-0-2. Don't cut and paste next time when you Google it.

I didn't mean the Wings playing dump and chase, but whoever they are playing. Hard to have speed and carry the puck into the zone when there is no room at the blue line, hell even the neutral zone. There is no disillusion, by the way. You pointed out exactly how the Wings have done the past few years, detailing their loses in each round and to whom. I stand by my statement. You are correct though on one thing, I'm a hater when it comes to Detroit.

Maybe you should take a "gander" at ESPN every once in awhile so you don't pull bullshit stats out of your ass. When did ESPN become the universal spokesmen for all Flyers fans? Last I checked they were pretty unbiased, and usually call things as they seem em. Naturally anyone who's neither a Pens or Flyers fan would probably go with the Flyers having the edge because of their apparent momentum and shocking (almost) sweep of a team they had never won against all season. Flyers at the moment, stand to have the benefit of the doubt. I feel as long as the Flyers can keep the shots somewhat equal, they can win the series easily.

Get over it Locke. I was wrong. You don't see me saying I wasn't wrong do you? Go tab over the comments on just about every Pens/Flyers article to see what I'm talking about. I never said Espn made the comments, I said Flyers fans did. Where the flying fuck did I say Espn is responsible for making said comments? If you could direct me to that I would greatly appreciate it. Are you all fucking ragging today or are you naturally this anal.

I'm sorry, but what exactly should I have gotten out of the above? I'm not trying to nitpick here at all, but I think you're overestimating how much people feel the Flyers have an advantage over the Pens. I'd say they have the momentum and are the favored team for that reason, and that reason only. I'm pretty sure that's the mindset of most people who favor the Flyers also.

You're commenting on what exactly you should have gotten out of the above. You must have the worse memory retention than I do, because you've clearly forgotten the comment I just quoted. You replied saying you haven't seen too many comments to that effect and I replied saying to check out Espn. So I'm not sure exactly where the wires got crossed here, but it's definitely not on my end. Regardless this is probably the most retarded argument I've been in on BG so far so I'm done with it lol.

As to the series itself from everything I've read so far, by sportswriters not fans, the Pens are being called the favorite. The "experts" on Espn.com all have Pittsburgh winning in either six or seven games.

But these are also the same experts who each time Philly advanced, predicted they would lose. So take it for what it's worth. I just want this series to get started already. I'm going into hockey withdrawal. I need to see blood on the ice.

When you say "look at ESPN", most people would interpret that as a reference to the writers, not the comments on the articles.

Though why you would put yourself through reading the giant wankfest that is ESPN Conversation, I can't explain.

I'm sorry, I took "ESPN" as the writers and sportscaster's opinions on the subject, I guess that's where I lost ya. I don't typically listen or pay attention to "fans" opinions on any sport, because 95% of sports fans are raving fanboy morons.

Looks like the refs are determined to decide this game early. Questionable Roughing call leading to that 5 on 3. Dallas came out on fire, now momentum is all Detroit. Think this is going to be an awesome series if the refs dont go on an ego trip.

The Red Wings are really good, but everyone knew that coming into this series. Dallas is just really getting outplayed. 25 shot attempts to 8 shot attempts in the 1st period alone.
