If you make people wait that ;long for the final series after all the great hockey they risk losing the momentum the nhl has built up until this point. With baseball and basketball going strong right now they should be in a rush to get these games going.

I have to say I watched the last few Dallas/Detriot games, and I think Laroque, Ruutu, etc., are gonna beat the hell out of Detroit from what I saw those last games.

Detroit may want to run and gun for goals, but they forget we have the best 2 players on the ice.

Even though they whipped our ass last round I'm rooting for the Pens.

That being said I don't think they have a shot in hell of winning this series. Detroit has way too much depth, experience, and discipline for anyone else to handle in my opinion. Wings in 6, but I wouldn't be shocked if they end it sooner.

I've been talking to a lot of older hockey fans here in Van and they all say the same thing. The pens remind them of the oilers in their glory days but many of them think this will probably be the equivalent of the Islanders vs Edmonton final back in 81(?). Edmonton lost that series but came back so hungry they dominated for a good number of years.

I think Pittsburgh might have the same thing happen to them but I'm still not counting them out because their depth is pretty much on par with Detroits. Besides whose Detroit got that would be willing to fight Laraque? McCarty? Lol Id love to see that.

I love how everyone is talking about Detroit's depth. They have none. Only their blue line is deep. Their entire core of forwards consists of Datsyuk and Zetterberg with Franzen out. Look at their scoring. They have three players with five or more goals. Everyone else is four goals or less. There is absolutely no scoring balance with Detroit at all.

Add on top of that, the fact that Zetterberg and Datsyuk play on the same line. Where exactly is this depth everyone is talking about?

Now look at the Penguins. They have five different players with five or more goals. And that's not even including Crosby, who only as four goals.

Plain and simple, Detroit does not have the depth. They have the experience yes, but not the depth.

Well, we got our wake-up call. The Penguins as a whole are very humble players to begin with, but hopefully this brings them back down to reality and lets them know this series won't just be handed to 'em.

Not just today's results show Detroit's depth. Just look at their roster. Their D is depth as hell, which BrillCS gave them credit for. They have depth up front too. Might not just be scoring depth.

They have shut down lines/forechecking lines/grind lines with seasoned vets that play their roll perfectly. Kris Draper is the best faceoff man of this era, maybe ever. They have multiple 3-time and 2-time cup winners on their squad. I'd say they are pretty deep. They may seem like a 1 trick pony (D&Z line), but they have people who can step it up when needed.

Oh and it was hilarious how after Fleury fell, he looked behind him like it was someone else's fault.

As it was already summed up by the fact I quoted scoring statistics, I was referring to scoring depth. Try a little reading comprehension next time there bud. Or should I bold it and put it in italics for you next time?

The refs have been terrible, especially tonight. Osgood flops around like a trout out of water when so much as a jersey even touches him. The hit that Kronwall put on Ruutu should have been called as well. Last I checked leaving your skates and jumping into the air to deliver a hit was illegal in hockey. Good to see things called down the middle this game.

Nice to see my boys losing with class too. Good couple of cheap shots on the guy recovering from a concussion. Whitney should have gotten a game misconduct for that garbage. Nice. Way to show your class guys, it's not like you aren't representing Pittsburgh or anything on national tv.

Detroit in four seems quite the reality unless the Pens can really pull a rabbit out of their hats when they get back home.
