Sorry I'm late to the party but I see a lot of you writing off the Stars and crowning the Ducks. After the game 1 massacre and the game 2 thrashing, do any of you still stand by your selections?

Not sure how many of you have had the luxury of watching the Stars but they are a force to be reckoned with and are playing incredible hockey. Doing it all without our number 1 defenseman Sergei Zubov who is out with a sports hernia and should be returning soon. Don't nap on the Stars. Only opponent I'm even remotely worried about is the Red Wings. If we can get past them, I feel Dallas will bring home our 2nd Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Fuck Sergei Zubov. I hated him when he played for the Penguins. Put the little bastard on the powerplay and he never, ever, ever shot the fucking puck. As Barry Melrose says, "Put the puck on net and good things happen."

Please tell me your not one of those cockfags that shouts shoot the minute the puck crosses the blue line on the power play. You get much much better scoring chances when you get set up, guy in front, guy behind, guy at the point etc etc.

For supposedly having some of the most educated fans in the league(high school hockey in minnesota is like high school football in Texas) we have no shortage of these people, and they drive me fucking up a wall.

Both teams faded pretty bad down the stretch, but I felt Dallas was hurting more (outside of that home win against SJ to close out the season), and honestly did not expect Dallas to take two from the Ducks at Anaheim. Honestly between the two, I don't care who wins so long as Minnesota wins there series, and the winner of stars/ducks kills detroit.

Sergei Zubov is a beast whether he shoots the puck or not. He is an awesome quarterback on the PP and can set anyone's table. He is also our shutdown defenseman that goes against the opposition's top line. Zubov is awesome and I think we'll be even more lethal on both sides of the puck when he returns.

I agree 100% with this. I was so angry how we performed after the trade deadline. I thought we had a chance to contest Detroit for the President's Trophy and we go on a cold streak. We had complete control of our division and we blew it, hard. Didn't help that San Jose went ape shit in the last 2 months and took the Pacific Division by a long shot.

I really hope we sweep the Ducks to send a message to the rest of the league that we are for real and they better pay attention to us. Plus some extra rest before our series with Detroit would be nice

if we're going to talk Defencemen you have to respect how much Brent Burns has come on in the last month, he's only 23 and hes starting to look like the next great offencive Defenceman a la Chelios

on the Power play because we're literally down to 5 healthy defencmen Lumaire has been putting Rolston and Burns on D, it's so awsome, you can kick it out to either point and get a top notch slap shot.

I decided going to sleep early last night (esp since the avs games tonight and tomorrow are gonna be LATE) was more important than watching the flames get shelled. I crashed after the first big hit (Marleau I think it was) but before the goal. I was shocked this morning to see the flames with a W.

Here is hoping Theo remembers that hockey has 3 periods minimum tonight. The last two goals the wild got looked soft to me. Pretty sure I woke up the neighbors Friday night when Liles got the goal to tie it up.

Nope, I've watched hockey my entire life, I fucking hate people that do that shit.

Ask any fan who watched the Penguins back when we had Zubov and they will tell you the same. Then the second they let him go to Dallas he started shooting the puck again. The Sergei Zubov that played for the Penguins is not the Sergei Zubov who plays for Dallas, if that makes any sense. Go Youtube a Pens game where he was on our powerplay and you'll see what I'm talking about. Either way, I would take Gonchar or Lidstrom over Zubov without a moment's hesistation.

On a side note though, tonight fucking sucks. I'm stuck at work, so no Pens game for me sadly. Ottawa is saying Alfredsson may play tonight as well. I'm hoping New Jersey is able to rally. Strictly for selfish reasons though. I would much rather see a potential Penguins/Devils series instead of Rangers/Penguins. Lundquist is too much of a beast in net.

Oh god yes. Those hits turned it right around for Calgary. Sarich's especially, he fucking plastered Marleau. Very reminiscient of the hit Sarich threw in junior on Quinn Hancock (clip here). Sarich was a great, great pickup by Sutter. :3
