That first fight was absolutely terrible, those two were very very VERY sloppy. :s
wow, rampage has every right to be pissed off about that 2nd fight. it was clearly 1-1 and everyone knew it, cept for the judges of course. there is no way in hell that dude won that first round.
i was a little surprised about the first fight. although one of those big knees was bound to land.
I was so happy when Amir won, I absolutely hate lay and pray. That guy deserved to lose.Originally Posted by Treciont
Have you guys been catching the DREAM tournaments (the new JP fight circuit that replaces PRIDE)? Some of the fights are really good - you can see some of DREAM3 at mmascraps.com
Jayson "Mayhem" Miller was in that one, and completely wrecked this dude - he's so entertaining to watch fight, even when he loses. I keep hearing word that HDNet is going to pick some of these up, but I don't think it's happened yet.
edit: Apparently HDNet aired the last one live, which means it started at midnight PST.
this season has been pretty disappointing so far. only promising guy for me is tim credeur (sp) everyone else seems to have really basic problems like zero cardio, no sprawl, giving up their back, "i got him on the ground, now what"
I haven't seen anyone with a well-rounded repertoire who can last in the ufc middleweight class.
edit: also faber v pulver ... i'm rootin for faber![]()
they probably gave that gay guy 8 or less points for getting pounding on the ground for 4+ minutes in rd 2Originally Posted by Treciont
the mayhem fight wasnt exactly very entertaining. now alvarez vs hansen was entertaining, maybe fight of the year so far, awesome fight.
and yeah, the guys on TUF seem to suck. i had hope for matt brown after seeing his fight to get onto the show, and hearing the hype behind him, but doesn't look so great. im surprised they haven't focused more on CB since hes the heavy favorite to win the whole thing, and he probably wont disappoint
yeah maybe, but that still makes the judges retarded since he didnt do nearly enough from the top to get a 10-8Originally Posted by Remyo
Judges seem to think that a takedown is huge point wise which is pretty stupid. A takedown just puts you in a better position to do damage, you should only get points for what is done after you take the guy down unless the takedown itself was damaging.
well pounding on a guy for about the whole round landing many shots to your opponent tends to get points.Originally Posted by Blarg
The only reason that fight didn't go to a third round is because apparently the 2 takedowns in the first round overrode what the other guy did standing, I don't think the second could be a 10-8 round so that's what it seems convinced the judges. The second round was obvious who won it.Originally Posted by Remyo

2nded. Tripping someone and letting gravity take its course is not anything spectacular. Fighting should be about damage and submissions. Barring either of those, who dealt the most damage should be the winner. If it was two grapplers, then whomever controlled the fight most should win.Originally Posted by Jyakku
the fight stayed on the ground for a majority of the 2nd round, which is why that takedown may have been scored higher?
The takedown allowed him to do all that on the ground, points should go to what is done after thanks to the takedown. I'm really not sure what the confusion is, either the second round was a 10-8 or the first round was won via 2 takedowns with little damage from the top (little damage should be little points) which somehow overturned the standup being controlled by the other fighter.Originally Posted by Remyo
You can't wrestle someone to death, you can however wrestle someone to the ground and then beat them to death (death not being required lol)
I fucking told youOriginally Posted by Remyo
I actually agree with the judges decision though.
I do too, he didn't do shit. He shouldn't have even come back.
rofl the klan is coming for rampage.![]()
