Don't feel like starting a whole new ufc thread but there are strong rumors about a new ufc card set to take place the same day as the affliction card on july 19 free on Spike TV. Main events are supposedly James Irvin vs....... Anderson Silva making his light heavyweight debut. Co-main event is Hermes Franca vs Frankie Edgar.
Anderson will still hold his middleweight belt and may be fighting in both weights .
Absolutely no way Anderson Silva and the UFC would risk giving him a fight like that with on a month's notice. I really can't see this being more than anything but a rumor.Originally Posted by Blarg
Edit: I've been looking on Sherdog and apparently this is true... Which I'm very excited for, however, I won't believe this til the UFC themselves announce this fight.
Anyone catch Dream 4 last weekend? Great fights top to bottom, Shinya Aoki is so fucking amazing for being so tiny. My friend's former BJJ instructor, Darren Uyenoyama was also on the card in the fight of the night. Most of the fights are up on DailyMotion at least for now, let me link some:
Hideo Tokoro vs. Darren Uyenoyama (fight of the night)
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Melvin Manhoef
Jason "Mayhem" Miller vs. Ronaldo Souza
Shinya Aoki vs. Katsuhiko Nagata - check out Aoki's sweet leggings
Alavutdin Gadzhiyev vs. Ralek Gracie
Zelg Galesic vs. Taiei Kin
Alistair Overeem vs. Tae Hyun Lee
Gegard Mousasi vs. Dong Sik Yoon
They must be offering some nice incentives to Anderson to get him to do this, either cash bonuses, or telling him a fast track to a title shot at 205 is possible if he wins. The sources so far say those 2 fights are confirmed but until I see it on ufc.com or from dana's mouth its hard to know exactly. http://mmarated.com/blogs/blog/20080617 ... 9-231.htmlOriginally Posted by Jyakku
I've never noticed this before... But Marvelous Manhoef has really really tiny ears.
Also, that BJJ instructor did one hell of a job in that fight. Had he not gotten rocked with that knee, I think he would have won. The fight went downhill for him after that, but he still managed to keep it competitive.
from a quote @ bloodyelbow.com
also state something about white saying silva will be fighting again @ UFC 88 which is less than 2 months after july 19. seems kind of crazy to me if hes taking this fight on one months notice and will be fighting again two months later. idk a whole lot about turn around time between fights but that just seems real short to meWhite denied such reasons of counter-programming, claiming, instead, that more fights is simply "giving the fans what they want. And Silva just wants to fight more," he said.
Assuming he doesn't get injured there should be no problems with fighting again 2 months later. Who is he supposed to fight at ufc 88 anyway? It should be Okami but I don't remember that fight being official yet unless it is another fight at 205 for him.
fitch for the 185 title.Originally Posted by Blarg
you need 6 weeks to get a complete camp in, top to bottom. so two months is right around perfect. apparently, brandon vera is confirmed for the july 19th show as well...fighting an IFL guy...Reese, also at 205. that's where he belongs, was always too small for heavyweight really. i can't wait to see silva fight at 205. gives a lot of possibilities for great matchups.
Fitch is fighting GSP.... at ufc 87 I believe.Originally Posted by noblemountain
imo dumb idea for him to go up in weight, but w/e he'll probably beat Irvin. glad to see vera going to 205 if it's true, where he needs to be most of UFC heavyweights cut to 265.
bah...you're right, fitch and gsp...had my shit backwards.
I just hope Silva remains undefeated until GSP beats both Fitch and Alves. I would love to see the superfight between Silva and GSP.
i'm also excited to see A.Silva fight in 205. He's dominated 185, this is going to be a great test. and free!
for middleweight, id like to see okami and bisping go at it, winner get's title shot there.
a bit late, but damn that looked so painful. i don't think arms are supposed to bend that wayOriginally Posted by archibaldcrane

On a completely random note: I had no idea Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and Rampage were all in an episode of King of Queens. They all beat up on the main cast of the show haha.
During the "hot Leah Remini" era or during the "chubby Leah Remini" era? She'd probably be a force in the 175 lb. weight class.
God I'm an asshole.
Frank Trigg was in that episode as well.Originally Posted by Jyakku
oh man Jesse taylor is a moron, dude needs to stay away from alcohol. He's a great fighter, just doesn't have the mindset for social interactions, hopefully(for his family) he can make it back in after some counseling or w/e he needs.
Was hoping Tim would get a shot, I liked him throughout this season. Seemed to me that he won the fight, but maybe I was just being biased.
Finale is Saturday and here's the (too awesome for a TUF finale)card:
Tim Credeur vs. Cale Yarbrough
Matt Arroyo vs. Matt Brown
This one is a toss up good clash of style, jiu-jitsu fighter arroyo and standup brown
Rob Kimmons vs. Rob Yundt
Marvin Eastman vs. Drew McFedries
Josh Burkman vs. Dustin Hazelett
Matthew Riddle vs Dante Rivera
Jeremy Horn vs. Dean Lister
jiu-jitsu match, really depends on which Jeremy Horn shows, the old one from before the Liddell rematch or the unmotivated sack of crap thats been showing up recently.
Main Card
Spencer Fisher vs. Jeremy Stephens
Diego Sanchez vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Amir Sadollah vs. C.B. Dollaway
I like Amir more, plus he beat C.B. already
Evan Tanner vs. Kendall Grove
CB got cocky and sloppy by leaving his arm in there over and over again. It was just a matter of time. He needs to work on his conditioning. For a top contender, he seemed to get tired really easy. He had to lay on top of Amir a lot just to get enough energy to throw an elbow before resting for another 10 secs. He got gassed again against Tim. "Use the jab." lol
Jesse woulda easily won The Ultimate Fighter. He's the king of laying on top of people for the entire round. Amir couldn't stop CB from doing it and I'm sure Jesse woulda done the same.
Jesse can go two ways: downward spiral or motivation to turn his life around. I'm guessing downward spiral. He's too much of a meathead.
I can't wait for Sat. Lots of good matches I wanna see.
