Vikings get steal Weapon/Armor/etc. You just can't select which item they steal, it's random and with every successful steal the percentage of it being able to land drops dramatically.Originally Posted by Kiarax

Oh wow, didn't know that. Maybe I'll recruit a Seeq afterall then. Half the time the enemies have useless stuff anyway though.Originally Posted by Mikayla
Yeah, pretty much. It's kind of fun to have it available though, but there's nothing like the original FFT where you'd want to /wrists over missing stealing some one of a kind item off some boss character.Originally Posted by Kiarax
I'm on the mission where you fight the 6 pink malboros called cassies. rofl @ the law being no buffs or debuffs. gonna have to break the law on this one and put them to sleep cuz i get spammed slept or charmed otherwise
edit: heh cant sleep those malboros. i had to just use my moogle knight to use moogle shield on ppl to keep up astra cuz i dont have ne1 else with it and i beat them
I just use Air Render/Moogle Lance/Aura Blast on everything, it's ez mode dudez.Originally Posted by Setsuko
Also are you guys using any guides or anything? I wish I had one sometimes to figure out what loot is best or what makes what...
lol, I use Sleep + Jump, raises Jump's accuracy to 100% and with DRG's strength, it's basically a 1-hit KO on most enemies.Originally Posted by Maguspk
As for guides, no, I haven't been using any myself, just kind of plodding through finding stuff out on my own, but I think there's an item/bazaar guide on GameFAQs, iirc.
I probably won't look at a guide til I finish all the story missions at least.
Hunters and Elementalists are ridiculous. Sidewinder turns Hunter into a howitzer against monsters, and Elementalists can debuff enemies into oblivion.
I had a Dragoon but I got rid of him when I noticed fights weren't lasting long enough for him to move his slow ass into position.
Just beat
[spoiler:3b5d520t]the mission where you fight all of the kings at 99. @@
Gives you "Condemner's Choker" Summons Zeromnus(sp?).[/spoiler:3b5d520t]
Was a tough battle.
Anyone else done it yet? I barely squeeked by with my Doublecasting Summoner(62) and Mastered White Monk/Master Monk(65) in the lineup lol. With a little help from my Earring of the Dread. :<
(Also a sniper, but meh).
Yeah, Sidewinder is insane, lol. Elementalists are pretty cool too, though I don't use mine a whole lot. Admittedly though, that really is the low point of using a Dragoon, they're slow as hell and their movement stat sucks to boot. But attacking two enemies at once and 1 hit KO jumps are pretty sweet.Originally Posted by Priran
If you put haste on a Dragoon, they're not half bad, but the abysmally low movement stat hurts them a lot unless it can get you within jump range.
Sidewinder + Ultima Shot = overpowered.
I got both of them on my Hunter with Seventh Heaven bow.
was thinking about recruiting a red mage and turning her into a double casting elementalist to team with my Double Casting Summoner.
I have yet to have a Viera recruit that is a mage. My only Viera is physically oriented and is on Archer atm learning Concentrate before she goes back to Sniper. I remember some bulliten about when to find recruits and where but it's gone now anyone remember where to find them offhand? Also, is Hunter unlocked or default and what weapon teaches Sidewinder? I could devote my other Hume fighter to being an archer now since he has a pretty high attack now and then move onto Hunter.

A fairly decent post on what months and what locations to find recruits, as well as what jobs show up at different locations. Hope that helps.
Wow after looking at that, I have so many jobs left to unlock lol... Yojimbo, Cannoneer, Seer, Sky Pirate, Agent, Devout, Trickster, Chocobo Rider, Scholar, Magic Cannoneer, Bastard, Raptor, Lanista, Viking, Geomancer.. fuck. haha
Maybe I should actually progress the story instead of spamming auctions and resting for 220 days everytime I pick up my DS...
edit: Wtf is the Smash Gauge I don't ever remember that being explained but it keeps popping up in abilities and one of my privileges is for increasing the rate at which it fills or something too.
Also, playing European version is annoying. Gunner is called Fusilier and other stuff has weird names too like Spellblade, Flintlock, Privir or something like that.
Sky Pirate, Agent, Heritor, and Dancer are jobs belonging to special characters and can't be used by regular party members, so you don't need to worry about those. lolOriginally Posted by Maguspk
And yeah, Parvir(or w/e)=Yojimbo, some of the class name changes are annoying.
Parivir is the Samurai equivalent in this version. And it's freakin' awesome. I made my Luso into a Parivir/Fighter with dual wield using Masamune and Zanmato. Does ~170 a hit to backs of enemies and like ~100 face-to-face.
Fuck, I knew I should have waited for the NA version... fuck I hate these names.
I'm going to try and use my save with the NA version, doubt it'll work but I'll post if it does.Originally Posted by Julian
edit: For some reason the rom doesn't matter, it loads up the retarded names even if you use the NA rom and not the EU one. What the fuck british people, why can't you just call it a fucking Gunner? This is going to piss me off.
So does anyone know what the Smash Gauge is?
Some of the name changes are weird. I mean, they were called Gunners in the last FFTA, why is it now Fusilier?
And Concentrate sucks major balls now. Like a 5% accuracy boost instead of doing anything meaningful. (although I admit is was crazy broken in FFTA)
The reason it loads up the "retarded names" is because those are the same names used in the NA version of the game, lol. It's not just the EU version. The only version that used Yojimbo, etc. was the JP version.Originally Posted by Maguspk
As for the Smash Gauge, I can't remember off the top of my head.
