RIDE ARMOR
The Smash Gauge is the little bar next to your name that fills up as battle go on. (If you weren't asking this direguard this)
I've got 4 Scions so far, anyone know of a list of them all yet?
I guess I'm ahead of my story progression as far as abilities/weapons go because I don't even know what a Scion is. I am going to do my last round of auctions and progress the story.
The story doesn't even mention Scions. You get Scions from side quests in the form of Accessories.
Jesus Christ. I just spent about two hours on the Bonga Bugle quest that deals with the ghosts.
Why, did the Ghosts keep respawning? You need to either kill them all within like 2 rounds of the first one dying, or get rid of the tombstone by casting Raise or using an ability like Burial on it.
I lost that mission... they keep coming back and once you lose the guy who can banish them its over lol. Even when you do that they will still re-spawn soon or later, its best to just get the bunch of them to low hp and finish them all within few turns of each other.
You can also use a Phoenix Feather on the tombstone but I guess if you had one of those you'd have used it on the guy that died.
Buying this one tomorrow~ I don't quite enjoy the FFTA-ish storyline but oh boy, its a "Tactics" game. Just so damn fuckin addictive.
"I'll just play until I get sleepy, for an hour or so.."
8 hours later..
"Holy shit, sunrise!"

Ya ok, I have been dicking around trying to get my Viera to unlock Elementalist so that I can recruit them right? I go to the guy who lets you recruit that little rank 1 quest right? I answer BBAA like all the guides say should give me an elementalist, yet he says I'm not ready to recruit it. What the heck? This is seriously pissing me off. I just want a Viera who will be good at magic so it can go Elementalist/Red Mage. Has anyone else had a problem like this where even when they could choose that job they couldn't recruit it?
How far into the game are you? That recruitment quest is wonky, and sometimes you'll get that error even when you shouldn't. Other than that, sometimes there's prerequisite story line quests to recruiting certain jobs and races (i.e. Gria, even though they're technically unlocked from the start, you'll get the not ready message if you answer to get them), so it could just be that you need to advance the main story further. Other than that, I have no idea.
I just use the characters you get at the beginning unless you want more than one Viera. The stats don't really matter that much do they? I still destroy things w/o their magic skill being capped in the end.
I beg to disagree with that, unless you're going for a highly specialized job combo like a Magic Frenzied Illusionist, in which case you'd want to dump a bunch of levels into Parvir to raise attack to where it wasn't a joke.
Will leveling based on particular stats help you? Yes. Is it by any means a necessity? No.
Well, what I meant was, leveling in certain jobs for the stats will make a difference because you have 2x the levels to get stats in compared to FFTA1.
Yeah, it's not a big deal, it wont make your characters be weak and worthless if you don't train them right, but if you do train them right the difference is noticeable.
Quest Rank corresponds to the average level of the enemies in that quest, right?
Also, is there a way to grind levels besides sidequests?
Random people challenging your clan might be a way to earn exp without having to do sidequests.
I am really picky about what jobs I go into battle with. Like for my Humes that are physical damage dealers I only let them go into battle as Fighters for the A+ Atk progression, unless they are like more than 60 from leveling in which case I'll just put them in on the job their learning skills on. For example, at the moment if I'm forced to use my main character I'll switch him off of Dual Weilding the Dual Weild swords to Fighter so that when he levels up he doesn't get the B a ninja gets and instead gets the A+ to his Atk. Same goes for my NuMou, I'll switch him to BLM and my Viera to Sniper, Bangaa to Gladiator, otherwise they sit out of battle on the jobs their learning skills on.
It comes down to people have different styles of play I guess. IMO I wouldn't waste time doing that to max stats because I would want them to be able to master all jobs not just become one job only.
