i would debate getting a hagun but i use it once maybe twice a week.

I can tell you (not even being the only one here) that 5-10m of gear sits idly on one of my characters for weeks at a time, that's no excuse, sorry. Try ENMing it?

of course, if anyone puts my ninja up here, i deserve it, and I'm with you on the money thing, but at least a Hagun CAN come from ENM.. (SH+1, Snipers+1.. Iron Ram Helm, no Hauby/okotes/emp pin b/c I was borrowing them and my drop rate is atrocious!)

maybe some people don't have 5-10m spare to keep up jobs they don't use? maybe said people can't log on for more than say 2 hours and would rather spend their time doing something constructive/fun instead of making their character perfect in someone else's eyes?

I used to log on for 2-3 hours a day, and did nothing but farm, fish, garden, or mine for about 3-4 months. Saved up a shitton of money, when I went back to playing a lot, I made myself look better. A Hagun isn't just for show. Think of it as effective killing - you, statistically, will kill faster, making your xp an hour better, or whatever you're doing, so you're actually getting more money out of it because you're able to do (whatever killing thing) better.

And that ENM takes about 30 minutes or so to do at max, then you'd still have another 1:30.. and it's pretty fun.

I'm just saying, you can try to justify it all you want, but unless you've got a relic, or you're doing WSes very situationally, the Hagun is the best item for that slot, and overall will help you be more efficient in your monster slaying career.

With that said, I'd never own a Genie Weskit for my BLM, but I'd still buy a Hagun for my Sam even tho it'll be my 5-6th melee to 75..

Don't get me wrong I love my hagun and I won't be parting ways with it ever again but some people just don't have a way to make the kind of money it costs nowadays. I have a friend that I borrow it to because he doesn't have much time to come on and farm before/after events. Also it's not like the ENM is a guaranteed win by any means, some people don't have many friends that do things with them, and afaik the bc has never been solo'd. FFXI is a game for most people not a job where they feel the need to farm as you have, I've never farmed over 100k in my 2 years of playing I've made most of my money buying things at low prices and selling high or duoing sky pops(I guess that's farming but its a fuckton more fun than logging in to put water on some crystals and hope for some ores).

So he/she isn't the greatest SAM ever because he lacks hagun, as long as he/she is having fun, isn't that why games exist?

I know this section, I haven't had much time at all to make back all my money after my account got hacked* and got all my expensive shit stolen, just lost all "want" to actually farm it all back and care for it. Hell, I run an Ushikimaru since I never get Hagun to drop and Shura Togi because my Haub got stolen and had it from MNK days. The rest of my gear is just fine though except the NQ amemet I'm to lazy to farm the 200k for the +1, other then that, I'm fine.

I got good friends anyways who loan me Hagun, Ame+1, Speed Belt and Haub+1 if I need them bad enough since he's, like, the greatest guy ever. Then again, that was 5+ months ago before I lost all internet connection to my PS2.

*Stupidly gave my account info to a friend whos cousin got a hold of my character and stripped it clean of everything, even my 60 cap spike earrings, lol.
