RMT regularly manipulate the price of stuff on the AH as well, which does affect a larger margin of people, not to mention flood the AH with craftables, making crafting a less profitable endeavor than it already is.

I meant that in order to remove the "P" tag off the item, it'd have to be traded to an npc and you'd come back to it after a pre-determined time. Of course this would not solve all hacking scenarios (LS items that wouldn't be protected due to being shared), but it would be an insurance for a lot of people.Firstly just to clear things up, because no one here seems to want to do so: You want to put in place some sort of system where by you can protect certain items with a (P) tag so by where if they're transferred from person to person there's a 3-7 day ex tag on them that'll be removed after whatever predefined time you determine is up? How about all this offers is that someone's annoyed with an ex tag when they get anything from you in a trade? I don’t see how this HELPS anyone so it can’t do much more than inconvenience. Let's say in the optimal scenario you're online when you're getting hacked, because that's all anyone seems to be looking at. You notice right away that your password is changed and you call up SE to have them lock your account, by the time you get through to someone who can do this, let's say they already traded off your most important items. Now, in the best of scenarios from what I've seen with SE and hacked people, getting your account back and investigating the matter takes how long? Weeks, if not months... if at all? The most recent of posts that I remember seeing in a thread was about someone being hacked in December (Source: viewto ... &start=385) Holy fucking damning balls of flaming christ that's a long time? Nearly four months now based on whatever his definition of early December is. Wow. Your 3-7 tag does nothing for this as far as I can see.
As for the account recovery issue you just brought up, you evidently have not been paying attention to the new policies SE has put in place over the past several months. It is now possible to lock an account the moment the owner contacts the customer service department and is able to verify ownership. That in addition to the suggestion I proposed would prevent the items from being sold off by the RMT as the "P" items would still be on the npc for X amount of days.
Retrade it to the npc and wait X amount of days before you can sell it. That was what I was trying to get across for my original post. This would allow an item to be sold off on the AH at a later date if the player decides he/she doesn't want it anymore. The rest of your argument is based on a misinterpretation of what I said, so there is no need to respond to that.Another point, how exactly does this (P) tag work with the Auction House? Does it just flat out refuse it? Do you have to retrade it to your (P) NPC to unprotect it and wait 3-7 days before you can sell it? You'd pretty much have to or else I'm going to have to exploit that little bit in your argument and say that if it's put up on the AH and bought off by GS to launder the item, and GMs certainly aren’t going to do anything about items that have been bought. Furthermore, we're going to have to go through with bazaaring as well. GMs don’t do shit if you bazaar an item and someone buys it. Launder it that way too. You need to fucking put more thought into these ideas before you go spouting off that I'm not helping any sort of debate. This isn’t a debate, it's a mockery. It's slaughter. Manslaughter.
Personal insults now? You loose more and more credibility by the moment when you debase to insults instead of using logic.I don’t offer any ideas because I don’t have any qualms about the ways things are done. I don’t give out my account info, I don’t use shitty browsers and get trojans, and I don’t download things without having them checked out on a separate machine. If you want to stop the beating around the bush, I'll go out and say it. I'm not as stupid as you are (Disclaimer: though I very well may be). Additionally, let's play another real life card, I've already done it and might as well continue. Let's turn this into a REAL debate. Discrediting ideas is the foundation of some arguments, if you're not right, you're certainly wrong, are you not? Well fucking shit, I may not have been proven right, but I haven’t been proven wrong yet have I? Clearly a step above you.
I am a moderately paranoid person. I have firefox, I use noscript with settings to block iframes, I don't give out my account info, I have an updated firewall/virus scan, and soon enough I am going to be using Tor. You assumed I did none of this and that I was in any actual danger of getting my account stolen. Even so, I am paranoid enough to assume that there is always a slight possibility that something may get through and that I might loose my account. I like to cover all my bases.
I have seen linkshell members hacked. I have seen good friends get their accounts stripped and gotten the workaround by SE's crappy item restoration policies. I hate to see these kind of situations happen.
So #686578, I ask you again, give me ONE good reason why my suggestion would not work.
Didn't read a single post entirely but whats the point of "bind-on equipment?" Why should it be SE's responsibility when people get hacked for handing out their pw/info or not using proper anti-anything software.

No, seriously, meaningful debate... HAHAHAHAHHAHA
Because they should care about the customerbase? Shit happens, a multimillion dollar corporation cant understand such a simple concept?Originally Posted by Hirokei Kiaza

I would probably play again if they bring back MPK. :D
And actually make content that gets harder then RoZ stuff. Like up the level cap and make Hard mobs for Level,idk,90's?
I know people will complain cause then people would solo stuff like Sky Gods and 3 Kings, but they could just make it extremly hard to get to that level. Like capped merits and XP tnl like absurdly huge, think over all the exp it takes to get max merits, and some hard limit breaks.
Then put Ridill+1s etc on the new hardcore HNM and those Level 90s wouldn't even care about soloing the old content. Then some instanced events you have 0 chance at winning unless you were Level 90 and had your McGriddles+1.
I always hated how ffxi gives you alternatives up the wazoo and they want to never obsolete content that is so old it should be relic.
I'd also be down with re-adding the mpk patch, even though I know some people would abuse it.
Sidenote-nice to see people ADDING suggestions other then just breaking down everyone elses and calling it stupid.
I got a suggestion that sounds pretty cool. Why not add armor thats like a second version of AF for the new jobs?
1. AV, please. SE had their lulz with it, now its time to let us kill it.
2. Kings. Yeah i know old gripe, but it bears repeating. I shouldn't have to watch Nid go to the person with the best bot and watch my only chance at E. body slip away, again. Hell, make the abjurations drop from KS99. Simple fix.
3. More ways to make gil that can't be monopolized by a small group (i.e. RMT). SE did a great job removing all this RMT'd gil from the community, but now everyone is broke. My shit sits on auction for weeks before it sells. Maybe adjusting the gil reward from existing quests to match today's economy? But have them be repeatable only every so often so as to circumvent spamming by RMT.
4. Lastly, fix things before adding more content. Yeah I want new stuff too, quests or whatever, but theres so many issues that have been around forever that to this day remain unresolved because SE seems to just think "if we throw more crap at the playerbase, that'll shut em up for a while".
I think they should also add White Chocbos, maybe unlockable once you have raised all the other colors?

Hey guys,
I realize that my original post was too broad and it left the discussion very open-ended. I ended up trying to explain more through the replies as the discussion grew, but I think it's better if I refine my statement and be as specific as possible. Let me start by amending the topic to "Suggestions to SE to help combat RMTs".
In my original post I asked about the feasibility of allowing sellable items to be converted to EX/RA items, or to at least allow this feature for "high-priced" items. I realize both statements were to broad and open-ended. It was my first post on this forum, and I didn't want to post a wall of text. But that just resulted in my statement being too general, so let me refine it now. I apologize for the wall of text, and thanks for all the feedback.
Did anyone else ever wonder why gear dropped from HNMs are not all EX/RA? I'm talking about the following HNMs: Behemoth, Aspidochelone, Fafnir, Hydra ( i guess..), Tiamat, and Jailor of Love. And the items I'm referring to are as follows: Thundercloud, comet tail, Heavy Cuirass, Balmung, Berserker's Torque, Sirius Axe, Herald's Gaiters, Noritsune Kote, Novio earring, and Novia earring. A number of these items are just plain crap, while some are useful but not necessarily "need to have" for most people. Besides, the pop intervals for some of these HNMs (or processes to pop them - in some cases) are time consuming thereby ensuring the rarity for these items. Ya, ya, I know. Some of you may be thinking that stuff like thundercloud shouldn't be put together with gaiters. But in order to be specific about my point, I'm referring to all sellable drops (armor and weapons) from these HNMs be allowed to be converted EX/RA items.
I know some folks have stated why not just make em all EX/RA and save the trouble. That would be the best thing to do, but maybe SE left some of these items as sellable because some of them can fetch a very high price due to their rarity. And maybe SE would not want to admit that they need to go back and change anything else, since they made those adjustments to LL, VE, kraken, peacock charm, etc.
But the fact that some of the items I listed above are very rare, they can easily be sold, especially now when RMTs can look on ffxiah.com too see who's interested in that particular item. Plain and simple, an RMT could hack an account, sell some of the items listed above at a high price, transfer that gil to whomever and log off/cancel id fairly quickly. It is the rarity of some of these items that allows them to be such a windfall for RMTs if they should be able to get their hands on some of these things. This suggestion is solely an idea to prevent the damage an RMT can do when they do hack accounts, and it's also to limit to amount of gil RMTs can make when they do hack accounts. On my server, 2 Herald's gaiters were jacked by RMTs, both within a week's span. The gil an RMT could make from selling one of two of the above listed items that are high priced is probably enough to sustain their living standard for a month of two in the country they are from.
I know there are lots of other items out there, HQ crafted that can also fetch a high price, but it'd probably be harder for the RMTs to unload these things in as quickly a fashion. These items can be generated from multiple sources, etc.
RMTs are always gonna be around. They have already reshaped the game by not allowing mpk by training mobs, and by making more items drop from the BCNM and KSNMs. With each progression of expansion packs, SE has introduced more mobs that tend to drop EX/RA items rather than sellable items (as in Cerberus, Khimaira, and most of the Jailers). My suggestion to them is just to take a look back at some of the earlier stuff, and see if they can do something about those as well.
