changing things to pop n drop is different then making it rare/ex.
I was trying to draw the comparison on how a simple change can effect economy in adverse ways. IMO the fix is not with making items rare/ex. The fix is in targeting gilbuyers more effectively. In all reality the only way to purely be rid of rmt is to get rid of gil system all together. Make every item rare/ex and only obtainable through killing the actual monster, get rid of ah, get rid of npc. But really whats this game gonna be after that.
My point is, rmt will ALWAYS find a way. They dont follow the same rules that we do. they dont care about being banned. I'm sure if they could figure out how to hack the SE servers and put gil in there banks... they would.
A fix IMO isnt in making expensive items worthless, thats just what i think. The reason they ARE expensive are the fact that they are NOT easy to obtain. Ideally you want to keep these items outa the hands of rmt but since mpk is gone, its almost impossible.
If its just things like novio novia gaiters, making them rare/ex is not a viable solution because SE has done it in the past, rmt will adapt. Its what they do. I see rmt more as vermin like rats. There will always be a certain population of them around. However, you dont go FEEDING the things. So in my analogy i feel the solution is in getting rid of the people feeding the rats (gilbuyers).
IMO there are far worse things than loosing a claim to a rmt, getting account hacked being one.
The real solution is bringing back MPKand attacking gilbuyers. Thats it. Everything else is just secondary that doesnt really do much.
Changing items into RARE/EX does not even always solve the problem. Legit linkshells as well as RMT "sell drops" which are RARE/EX. Example: RMT still camp KA, no buyers = hits the floor; Its sad but true.
That is true, but I'm talking about items dropped from HNMs.Originally Posted by Hanyoko

But yea, rmt will just try to sell the rare/ex
Not sure if any noticed this before, but a certain type of RMT group are organized by the server they're on. I was hacked the other day and the people selling my stuff on Asura were named Asuwlmz, Asufqm, and there was a 3rd one Asu---- that I seemed to have forgotten. If you check on FFXIah and search for playername ASU and check a lot of their histories, a majority of the purchases are fishing related. I was server transfered to Phoenix, and the same thing can be found there. Characters starting with Pho on FFXIah turn up more fishing related items: rigs, rods, fish. Knowing this, you can't exactly fix things, but hopefully the STFU could use this to more precisely target RMT. I sent this in online to the STFU, but the more the merrier ^^
