Everything I've read indicates that using Light/Dark arts raises the respective skills to B+ (256), but this doesn't seem to be true, it appears to vary by your main job.

So for the heck of it I pulled out my 75mnk/sch

Light and Dark arts set the respective skills to 246 before merits
So apparently, having enough skill in a category actually grants it a +10 bonus from an Arts making it B+, but the ability itself doesn't give B+.
Im not sure what the exact conditions are, it isn't necessarily natural job skills, because blm technically does have a natural enhancing magic skill.
Taking a guess at SCH skill levels, perhaps you need 210 natural skill or higher to get this +10 skill bonus from an Arts, but the end result still needs to be higher than your natural base or the arts won't affect that skill (ie healing on whm).
