    PSP popsloader?

Anybody here know how to install a popsloader? I'm currently on the latest firmware, 3.90 M33-3 I believe.

I'm trying to play FF7 but having trouble with the opening cutscene, the game blanks out as soon as I pick New Game and just freezes in a black screen forever (however it doesn't actually freeze the psp so I just hit the home button and get out... also the save I have on file loads fine, so it's just a problem with the beginning which seems to not run "right".)

Anyways, people on maxconsole suggested loading it with 3.71 pops, but I tried following their sticky's instructions and it just kept freezing my psp over and over so I deleted it. I must've used the wrong files at some step, however i'm not sure where.

Was I supposed to use the 3.90 file in the root of the psp? Because I assumed I had to use the 3.71 one if I wanted the files to be the correct type. I might've done something wrong along the way too, however i'm not really sure where. >.<

Anybody have any experiences with this?

This contains basically everything you need

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/20emse

Includes the popsloader files for Firmware versions 3.00-3.80. And yeah, use the 3.71 pops, it's the most stable for FF VII, but make sure you save alot, the game can still have random freezes (I run into this issue playing Star Ocean 2 on my psp as well).

Yeah just dump it in, I got confused with it too because the guide said to put it on the "root of your memory stick" and I didn't think it through. Don't confuse the MPROOT folder with the root of the stick, just dump it in there, then enable it from the plugin section of the M33 recovery console. When you start the game you should see the popsloader menu come up.

    Re: PSP popsloader?

Anychance it saves as standard PSX save files?

Got my PSP modded recently (love being able to skip the boot-up animation), and wouldn't mind continuing my old forgotten FF8/9 data if possible (if they even work emulated). Would just need to buy a bigger mem stick to rip the CD to.

[EDIT] Hmm, nothing showing up under plugins in recovery mode.

You're supposed to put it in the plugins folder, not the root itself. (called 'seplugins')

Well that explains the directory the .txt file was referring too. (even though I edited it out to point to the root hoping that'd fix the problem <.<)

    /hijack

WTB a good list of PS1 games that don't utilize L2+L3 and R2+R3 that much. Pretty much no fighting games :/.

Also, is there a new NES emulator for 3.90M33? The one I used died .

I just use NesterJ via the 1.50 kernal add-on. Worked exactly the same as it was back when my PSP was 1.50 firmware.

Not sure what this 1.50 kernel addon is or where it's located (a safe to use one).

    Get CWCheat.

I don't have a link but the latest version should work with the latest firmware version.

Stick it in seplugins like the other stuff, and edit the POPS.txt to add cwcheat to the list. (make sure you don't overwrite your original pops.txt, just add stuff on to it)

Turn it on in the plugin menu, then when you load a game hold down select, this will open up the cwcheat menu.

In the bottom of the menu there will be memory card options, and you can write your current saves to a .mcr file, or you can load saves from an .mcr into the psp. (There's a folder in the cwcheat folder that holds saves, don't remember its name, should be obvious. To load an mcr you need to stick it in that folder, and you have to name it a certain way, the cwcheat menu will say what it should be called)

I might not be exactly 100% spot-on with names and stuff because I'm doing this from memory, but it's pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.

It's kind of funny seeing how Cloud reacts/reading what he says after playing through CC... I see him in a completely different light now.

If you're talking legally downloaded PSP games (like thru the PSN store), then you need to run it thru a PS3 to install the games. Illegal downloads you're probably going to have to run thru your computer.

If your PSP is a new PSP Lite you're going to need a pandora's battery to downgrade.
