DRK/NIN can do this as well.

I was duoing with a RDM/WHM until 20% (took about 50 minutes to get it that low) and she d/ced. Didn't come back until 5% about 20 minutes later - in that time, the only damage I took was from Poison, and was easily drained back, so I know I could solo it on DRK/NIN if I brought about 4 stacks of Antidotes.

I stand corrected in a way lol, I saw the thread title and figured it was speculation, and for some reason (don't ask me) I envisioned someone trying to solo it melee ing it as nin and just eating counters to the face, so I opened the thread simply for lulz.

That being said their are so many easier ways to do this even just needing one friend, which I should hope anyone still playing FFXI should have. first time doing it to prove that it can be done, I say bravo, but anybody who tries to copy you I say what a waste of 5 hours.

theres a mnk in my LS who's been soloing it a few times too. MNK/NIN or /WHM, i forgot which sub, with MND setup, would just kite it, boost up and chiblast it till it dies. was taking him about 3 hours.

I almost got kicked out of an LS like 3 years ago cause I said Genbu could be killed with 5 people. Grats and all, but 5 hours, fuck that.

Lol, it's true, 5 hours isn't very efficient, and it would be much easier to do with DoT.
But then again, some people sit around Whitegate staring at their screen for 5 hours doing nothing, or camping a 3 hour window only to not claim the NM. So if you look at it that way...
But yeah, if you have a friend, might as well grab them. It's fun.

I dunno I think doing it solo is always more efficient than getting people. 5 people 30 minutes each (fight + wait time) = 2.5 total hours used. Loot is divided by 5. Also you can do this in your own schedule so that's lower opportunity cost. But I'd really be scared of disconnecting 4 hours in or someone calling GM for holding! Anyways that's awesome!!!
