Been there, done that. Bulwark-spamming Hydra with no WS took like 10 minutes with 4 DD, it fucking sucked.Originally Posted by TacoTaru

Nyzul can be a cruel mistress.
My group usually takes a different approach to Cerb.
I'm usually WHM/NIN (its a quirk, it works). Soon as we zone up and see Cerb, the nin and I get set up for me to start tanking. With 4 melee's going on him, he USUALLY spams Lava Spit and I'm very free with curaga's. By 60% I'll be standing on his feet cause hate is only 1 curaga away. Once he swings at me, I actively try to get hate: flash, enmity gear macro's, cure IV fun, etc.
Even with only RDM refry and body, I believe we've only lost one Cerb and that was a VERY GoH happy one on floor 100.
We almost got floored by a "no white magic" adamantoise also, that breath damage really adds up lol :/Originally Posted by Vedder
we usually have one white mage and me as brd/blm, the rest are melee's and TH4. never had a problem with paralyna as long as the white mage knows to stand out of distance (20.0 or something). we have had more of a problem getting fucked up with a 100-fist cerberus without slow on it
Get Body Boody & Fanatics drink if u have the points. Mages should have Clerics Drinks. Also need some luck and hope he doesn't spam his SS, which is often does at 5% and lower. Just need some luck and well placed WS. GL.
Our set up is usually blu/nin, nin/war, sam/nin, thf/nin, whm/smn and rdm/blm. Our rdm subs blm all the time for nyzul and has saved runs more than once(damn pudding families back to back). Problem seems to be with your whm's mp pool. Even 1 ether will help from chest at start, check all chests on the way up for other items and make sure if you get lamps he is at the rune of transfer healing mp. As for the thf standing back to lower tp gain, i parce fairly high on over all damage on all the bosses except hydra with its peircing resistance and tp gain shouldn't be an issue in the first place when u are zerging.
We got a No BRD Songs floor once where we had to avoid discovery by Archaic Gears /sadface ;;Originally Posted by SathFenrir

Got floor 100 without WS's once, luckily it was just poor ol' squishy Khimmy.
But yeah, for the OP, definitely bite the bullet and just spend some points for more drinks, and it'll make things A LOT easier.
We run:
War/nin: (pld-nin)
Drk/nin: (bst-brd-blm)
Drg/whm: (rdm-thf)
Thf/nin: (pld-blm-nin)
Brd/whm: (pup-whm-pld)
Rdm/whm: (whm-brd)
Cerberus is a problem of course so more info from this thread would be great.
For those advocating 3 melee, 3 backline (whm/rdm/brd), do you still split up on climb floors? Maybe get the the Rdm to have a DD set for climb floors, then support on boss?
-----------------------------------------------------
To be clear, what items should you bring to f80/100 (Cerberus).
Mages: Clerics, Mana Boost
Melee: Bodyboost, Monarchs (can just bring an icarus instead of dusty), Fanatics
Questionable (How long do these last?):
Fools Drink (magic defense)
Assassin's Drink (magic accuracy)
-------------------------------------------------------
Assuming 2 support and excellent mages red, white, and brd, would you Rdm + Brd, Rdm + Whm, or Whm + Brd (everyone /whm (Whm/sch?). I'm not sure our pt would want 3 support seeing we have 3 /whm but that might free up the rdm to /blm (eleseal slowII+nukage) and we also got raped by f80 Cerberus this week.
---------------------------------------------------------
DD Pld/nin for climb, tank for boss; any advantage to this over a War tank?
--------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, it looks like someone above brought a drg/melee. Drg/whm is the way to go with HB spam, curagas, -nas, and Divine Seal Curaga II > SJ. DD/Support jobs seem to be the strongest in nyzul, wish we had a cor we could bring.
Don't be cheap on the meds. Have everyone get a cleric's, melees also a d.wing. If you're still having trouble, bring icarus wings as well.Originally Posted by shirak
Looking at the other (what job bring to f100) thread, I'm convinced you're right. Definitely going to suggest go all out on meds. Might as well spend up to 1000 tokens on meds since thats what a win is about worth.
However, we sortof rationalized melee might as well skip the Clerics since they're the ones being affected anyways.
Clerics are also godsend on the way up, especially on soulflayers. Your non-runic-disc-holders are probably above 30k points anyhow.Originally Posted by shirak
I typically grab a sprinter's drink too for the occasional massive floor; with proper medicines we can do 10 floors at a time when climbing and nab 2000+ points.
we use double war tanks with a 3rd melee works fine, we never had any problems on boss except once like i mentioned earlier.Originally Posted by shirak
About the DRG, yes we use a DRG/WAR instead of /WHM like you just mentioned and it works fine, we really never have any mp problems, only problems that might come along is cerb or hydra cock blocking with SS or Physical shield, and in this cases having more damage helps a ton.
Don't really see a need to use 3 back line jobs for nyzul at all, we farmed countless 20 40 60 80s and a good amount of 100s, (not that many yet just started to focus on 100s now), with the same 4 front line 2 back line, DRG/WAR is very good to make things die fast when is needed lol.
that is so true, is very important and helps a lot, maybe for most runs will be just overkill but it will help a ton in the few that u actually need to hurry, everyone except me, being the disk holder, get 3-4 meds, DDs get Body boosts, cleric's, fanatic's or fool's, and wing, our thf likes to get Barbarian sometimes as well, i just get a cleric's and a mana boost just in case.Originally Posted by aurik
Meds help a lot indeed, use don't be cheap with them.
Up to you with this...but really the only thing that makes Cleric's for the melee not worthwhile is if they are hit with para or petrify. Most times, the "emergency cleric's" are used for when our tank gets hit with Petrify from like Khimaira or a Dahak or something. Much easier to have the THF or someone pop the cleric's on the boss than have our mage get 1-shotted from a tourbillion because they ran in to use theirs imo. But to each their own ^^Originally Posted by shirak
Fool's drinks and assassin's drinks and stuff last 1min.
Don't really need 3 back-line jobs, as was mentioned. Just depends on what floors you're doing, job choices, and your group dynamics. We use 3 mages and we don't have issues on anything really. Your mileage may vary. Best 2 back-line job combo in most scenarios is RDM/WHM + BRD/WHM imo. Make sure they both experienced healers since that's going to be their role...cause a BRD that is WHM sub that only occasionally tosses a paralyna and a sneak isn't worth the SJ, and at that point you may want another back-line mage or perhaps your drg/whm combo for more help for the poor RDM. Same goes for a RDM that spends the whole time resisting enfeebles instead of spamming cures on the tank on a ToAU boss.
Just as an fyi, I have yet to see a melee get paralyzed when using a clerics drink, I force every member cept disc holder to bring them on every boss run.
It can happen.Originally Posted by Indalecia
It's happened to our COR almost every time he's tried to use his when he's been paralyzed.Originally Posted by Indalecia
I highly recommend picking up a Champion drink, especially for your MNKs. I noticed a substantial increase in my Asuran Fists against ToAU bosses. Needless to say, Champion drink + Hundred Fists is also quite powerful.
