Angel Skins

Quick question about angel skins, well more about the mantas i guess. Ive never tried to fish them before last night. When i got there i was the only one fishing. I pulled one up about 3 minutes in. Then to my surprise, without ever losing a catch, not another for over an hour. Whats the "typical" bite rate on these things? I was just bored and trying something different so wasn't really a big deal. Just curious

I think you can fish another up after 12min but it might be 15min, and yea most people will end up taking an hour or more to pull it up again, think it is mostly luck and/or knowing what's on the line.

Manta reels in very slow and likes to jump around alot.

sorry, saw threads in a lot of places and all they said was "12-15 minutes" But if you successfully reel in every bite you get how would it be both "15 minutes" and "an hour to pull it up again"? I wasn't losing any of the bites so i had assumed that every 15 minutes or so, one of the monsters would have been a manta.

They are actually a 10 minute refish, I myself am like.... 2/43ish <.<; and 0/12 HQ on damn cursed mitts, SE HATES ME! ._.!

It's cause there is like 5 crabs and 5 pugils in the DATS(not sure exact #) and they respawn same time as the manta. So you could sit there endlessly getting bites off them. Best bet is to cancel the cast when you "feel" it's a crab/pugil, especially when you have competition there.

Its also said that if you get the manta on your line and release it, the repop timer starts over. That is why they can take forever to repop sometimes.

That makes sense. Seen 10+ people @ the pond and no pop for an hour.

Can be a bitch and not pop for ages. Old GSer trick use to be to fish up the 5 pugs and 5 crabs and hold them. That way the next mob fished was gonna be 100% manta. Not sure if this still works though.

Yeah 10min is the repop time, It's actually better to me when a couple people are fishing. I would usually see a manta every 15-20 min when i go there, whether it was mine or not. If you go past the 20+ mark usually means someone lost it an the timer started over.

...mm quesion lol.. when fishing the brigand chart in bub pen.. you can force chest pops by keeping a mob whacking on a player while another fishes.. yeah i know its more of a selective bcnm/event type thing and it has its own mob for that event i belive as well as the regular ones for that zone, but i belive there is liek as stated here a "set" of mobs pers zone which could be fished up....

could you keep thoses 4 mobs beating on a player or 2 and almost force pop the manta?? anyone tryed that just struck me as mmmaybe a possibliity.. pure speculation tho
having never fished teh manta was just curious as i have a couple of Ngears i need to uncurse sooner or later and was curious as to this post.

ahhh.. i never searched for teh answer to this as ive never really thought about it.. just seen the post and it poped in my head since u were talking about the mobs/manta pops and i have exp in the bub penin brigand chart...

tho if there were other people there it would also give them the better chanc to grab the manta i guess so could work to your disadvantage.. but perhaps i shall grab a couple friends and try this out one day..could you not be GM'ed for monster holding/monopolising ??if such people got assy with you over it..even tho if there fishing too your in theory improving thier chances too are you not lol?

the drop on skin is like 10% or so.. so still could be a while for u get a drop well i know a ls member is 100+3 bone crafter whom i was going to ask to make me my gears if i got a skin or 2 so maybe they would be interested in comin along lol

Well not sure if I am right here but I didnt wanted to open a new thread, since my question has to do with Devil Mantas. Fishing them up to be exactly.
2-3 months ago I started fishing for them with my luck beeing on and off. I now can pretty sure say if I get a Crab on my rod and release those however I still can't tell the difference between Pugs and Mantas sumtimes. In some cases I'm like 95% sure I got the Manta on the rod then fish it up and it's a Pug. -.-

Now about 3 weeks ago a new fisher came to that pond and I soon realized that he would never fish up anything else but the Manta. He teamed up with a another fisher that beed doin that for a while and since they fishing together he also stopped fishing up Pugs at all. Only mobs they would ever pull up are Mantas.

Some ppl on the pond that come there on a regular base started to accuse them using tools that would tell them what kinda mob they have on their rod. They said they had a secret how they could tell if it's Manta but wouldnt tell us. Of course not lol. But my question is if there indeed is a way to 100% tell if u got a manta. If sum1 knows it I dont even want them to say how it works cuz I would keep it to myself as well. But I just wanna know if this is actually possible or if these 2 are simply using tools...

I know from a friend who was caught in the act that the old fishing bots let you target certain fish. It would not reel up anything that you didnt target. Not sure if mantas were something that you could have selected but when hed skill up hed olny reel in ones that he could skill on.

Also kinda funny, i started this thread a while back and some people were a little upset about "search harder". Seems to me quite a few people have learned something here. Isnt that what a forum is all about?

If you're good enough you will only fish manta. I've done it, and a lot of other people I've competed with have done it too.
