Honestly, if they did a 'most recent xfers/formed characters' thing, I'd be rather all for it. It'd get rid of some crap LSes that have shown up lately with questionable practices and even far more questionable skill.

I don't think a new server is going to do much.. and I highly doubt they would fund a new server at this point.

If anything, they could say 'look, this many have to xfer off or we go arbitrary.' That way LSes can apply to leave together, etc; and then after that, move 'em by creation/transfer dates, and offer free world transfers to worlds other than crowded ones so that people can go to a server where the rest of their LS ended up or something.

If someone is a recent transfer or character and got into a long established shell, they could appeal the transfer and have characters that remained on Odin also verify for them or something.

It's about the best solution I can think of that is somewhat fair and isn't completely too much work, though it's still probably more work than they'd be willing to do. :/

Square has never arbitrarily moved characters and I doubt they'd start that now considering the customer service nightmare that it would cause.

Interestingly, they said the server average is between 15k-16k users. If we take this number to be 15.5k, and then take 32 servers, that makes the number of subscribers around 496k, right around the 500k which was announced over a year ago.

Just from eyeballing how many people are on when, I actually don't think our NA population is that much bigger than other servers. It's really the EU and JP populations that are huge.

I was under the wrong impression that this game was dying.

In order to prop up game subscription membership and fee to keep the game alive, I tried to do my part to help Newbies out, by soloing coffer key mobs (as DRG/RDM) and helping fellow DRGs with their AF pieces.

Now I can go back to logging on and just staring at my moogle...

RMT would abuse the everloving fuck out of it.

If they closed Odin for transferring to and creating characters on...it would work fine. New RMT couldn't get any money, only the ones already on the server. And if the RMT on that server leave for that 500k, I don't see where Odin is hurting at all lol.

Once poof got here people couldn't resist transferring over. No secret that Odin has been full as a strip club on customer appreciation day for some time now. Doing anything during JP time on the weekend is usually futile. Personally I'm for them transferring off anyone who uses the shout function in whitegate for social purposes, would clear out a large swath of retards at least.

I remember when Ragnarok was the biggest server with 6000-7000 users(and I was there for it) and SE took Rag out of the random world cycle thing and you could only get there through world pass.

Looks like Odin is going down that path and might be blocked from the World Transfer Service. It's a fact that people will go to whatever server is the biggest(see Fairy 2005-2006).

And SE fails at math. 1.7mill players but most likely 70% of that is mules.

Roughly 3.4 characters per account. So yeah, a little less than 70% per account are mules.
