So, I got my new XPS 420 earlier this week and I hooked everything up and had everything working great. I hooked up my sound using a Digital Optical wire going from my PC to my reciever and it worked great. When I was looking around in my sound options I noticed it had 3 devices listed, 2 were enabled and one was disabled. At the time I thought nothing of it because everything was working great. I went to work that night and when I got home I went to log in game and noticed I had no audio what so ever.

I'm not sure what exactly happened over the spam of a 10 hour period with no one having access to my computer. I noticed Windows Vista had done an update so I tried doing a roll back to the restore point before that update but it didn't work. I then looked into my audio options and noticed now that I only had 1 device listed there instead of 3. Went to Device Manager and when I opened up the Audio section it only has a device listed "High Definition Audio Device" or something like that, when I know for fact I have a Sigmatel 9227 Audio card. I then tried to use the Driver disc that Dell provided me, when I tried to update the driver it claimed that I didn't have that device on my system. I've been trying to find a solution all night, I'm going to try and download a driver from the Dell website when I get home but other than that I really have no clue what else I can do.

Anyone have a problem like this before or something similar to it where you were able to find a solution? If so any help would be greatly appreciated as I hate playing a game without any sound.
