Oh man that is so embarrassing to read stuff like that for me, haha. I mean, it's different when a little kid is pretending he's Superman, but when it's a full grown adult, come on, that's just really weird to me. It's fine with me when they keep it to themselves in /tell or /ls, but when they bring it out in public, just wow.
that is.. amazing lol, i want to laugh or clapOriginally Posted by Eanae

When you think about it, do you feel the same way about people in the theatre or in a movie? It's all acting/improv at the end of the day, and I love it.
Haven't been in an RP LS myself, nor do I RP, but I don't see the problem with it.
Yes, you are right. However, I do get embarrassed when I see really bad acting and I feel like this falls into the same category. It's a weirdness feeling I can't explain. But I do see where you're coming from. It's the same reason I can't watch American Idol auditions; it's like the people don't even know that they suck/are being made fun of/etc. - a naiveté, I guess. I just feel bad for them I guess. I'm not pinpointing a certain wrong about it. Maybe it's just social conditioning that's making me feel this way, idk! Edit: My Router farted sorry. I was going to say what does anyone on these forums with an Avatar (90% of users?) have to do with RL role-playing, which is what this thread is about right? Just making sure this is the thread about real life RP and not the avatars. Ask me if I go around calling myself Full metal, or if I go wander around aimlessly making transmutation circles in the dirt. If you want to flame me at least have the goddamn common sense and courtesy to do it within the context of the thread lol.
The point I and others here are making is that while I play a Goldsmithing Corsair, I do neither in RL and nor do I care to delve into the world of "Argggggh me mateys, how many of ye scallywags heeeer want to search Davey Jones' locker for me precious booty??!!11oen!1" If that sounds fucking retarded to you then congratulations, you got my point and aren't as stupid as you are making yourself seem. Like I said earlier, to each his own. I am in no position to tell another person how to play their character but this is an "opinion based" thread is it not? Guess what, you got my opinion. *Gasp!
Of course you can still role-play and not talk like a douche-bag. That's the point everyone here seems to be missing. If that sounds fucking retarded to you then congratulations, you got my point and aren't as stupid as you are making yourself seem
Playing out a role...that's all it really is. These guys who talk like that are just as annoying to "real" role-players as they are to you.
I don't think I've ever seen a session in D&D where anyone talked like asshats. I'd punch people that spoke in old english. Unless the line is "I SAY THEE NAY!"
The only times I've run into RPers are in low level exp parties, where people are pretending to be their characters and some kind of e-family, calling each other mom/dad/sibling/etc... really creepy. I would just usually mpk party, disband, and![]()
I've never seen anybody talking in old english, "in character", or anything like that, well besides people mocking RPers.
I was in a ISNM with an RP type person once, a Galka in the PT made a crack about it, and the RPer replied "Nay, good master Behemoth". They're just people having fun a different way that doesn't hurt anyone, and makes me laugh, so it's not all bad as long as i'm not subjected to it 24/7.

The one time I can remember running into a (sirius) roleplayer was a few years ago in South Gustaberg. It was a taru acting like he was lost or something. At first I didn't know what was going on, then he told me he was role playing in a tell. So after that I just went along with it since he was doing good at it.

wasn't there a screenshot or something of an RPer walking (literally, run-mode off, no chocobo) from jeuno to their waiting non-RP party in CN, because they RP a character that walks everywhere? that shit cracked me up.

Those two are in my LS, and if you actually knew them, you'd know they weren't serious. They still do that shit to this day, but when you're on vent and hear them laughing at one another, you know they're not RP seriously, they're just fucking around.![]()
