What do you consider cheap?

I dislike it when people spam a move that is difficult for me to punish, like Lucario's forward smash or Wolf's forward smash I suppose (I feel like I can punish Wolf's F-smash better than Lucario's).

Projectiles bug me, but not as much as other moves because I play Mr. Game and Watch whenever someone wants to be a bitch with projectiles, and I get a KO move if they continue to play the same way that I will use against them.

The cannons in Great Sea are cheap. Had a comeback against Ryko while playing Ganondorf, he had 3 stock and I had 1 stock, brought him down to 1 stock and then I got hit by a bomb and died.

Fox's U-smash is cheap like in Melee, but that doesn't stop me from using it about 80% of the time when I kill somebody, the other 20% either being a f-smash, d-smash, or shine spike.

Falco's camping strategy is really cheap. Stand on one side, spam lasers, then when somebody is close, reflector them and do whatever you want (generally a side B or f-smash).

Pikachu's d-smash is pretty broken. Similar to Falco strategy. Spam thunderjolt, then be on the defensive and use d-smash and aim for a thunder kill or just chase them, then repeat this if you wish. It's either this or approach with SH fair -> d-smash in combination with thunderjolts. Maybe a QAC neutral air, but those are better for actually killing somebody.

Only things I hate are how Hanenbow's big flower thing has no grabable ledges in the middle, so when I forward B as like anybody I tend to fall right through it. That and WarioWare giving people invincible is kind of annoying.

Yes, yes and yes. The 'cave of life' and the new Fzero stages tendancy to kill you at lower percentages than the old Mute City are up there as well.

Edgehogging, someone spamming the same shit over and over while throwing projectiles online and running the clock.

Oh... and lastly, the 'no self-destructs' nonsense which is extremely cheap. I kill myself, its been 30sec since my opponent has touched me yet he/she gets the point because they last touched me? C-h-e-a-p. Yes, stock eliminates this nonsense but it still leads to stupid point camping in random brawls.

I agree, fagspammers are the only thing I dislike playing against. I just got my Wii+Brawl so I've been limited to only playing the random brawl matches that you go to when you have no friends. There it seems like I always get people that run/or spam.

It depends on the latency and the projectile involved. If I sat there and spammed blasters as falco on anyone under a yellow connection theyre not going to be able to "cope" and get around it.

I just hope you never go and say "I play this game for fun ^^!" because spamming projectiles is the least fun shit you can do on this game, but it's certainly effective when it comes to winning. This entire thread is evidence of that.

I'm not a stellar player, but I'm not bad either. and it really gets on my nerves when someone picks pikachu and just spams thunderjolt / d-smash or something. when you're online, it gets to a point when theres really nothing you can do but bend over and take it in the ass.

same goes for counterfags on marth or ike.

Counter is really punishable. And in the case of Ike, slow. Also anyone who uses counter a lot can be faked out very easy with a quick feint.

It's my own fault really, but I hate when I accidentally downB and change pokemon and people camp the pokeball for a free attack. I cant count how many times i've screamed when I accidentally done that cause I always know what's gonna happen next.

Sometimes I do it to get away from the edges though since I'm horrible at getting away from edge guarding.

As for cheap, the only thing I can think of that bothers me is the stupid Zapper since I usually end u pgetting juggled all the way off the screen.

Just spammers, ill play anyone regardless of their style (Kobb is a very roll/retaliate heavy person, brp is a lot more straightforward, thul baits really well and comes up with combos that I cant think of, zetah has great tech skill and can also chain together moves and advanced techs well) but a spammer isn't worth the time.

As for playing tag with your opponent, I think it depends on the character also. I don't usually rush in like mad with Ganondorf. I play it like chess with him and figure a counter for the other person's play style and move in when able (can thank all the delay on his moves for that). I move up but I don't run away from them, just keeping my guard up.
Same with King Dedede. The reason I used Forward+B spam to toss the Waddle Dees (when none were up) was to counter that pos Forward+B of Ike's. It stopped it cold for most of the time (although what to do after is still in the works for me ahah ;; )

What do I hate... hmm...

1) Projectiles that "stun" you like Wolf's (most annoying), Falco's, Pit's. I don't mind Fox's since you can still move freely or PK Thunder since it leaves you open. Often times I am afraid when I can shoot projectiles without seeming cheap so I shoot 1-3 times max when they are far from me
2) Wolf's FSmash spam with his gun when they aren't in range of it
3) Ike Forward+B (no one that heavy/strong should move that fast and distance barely charging it as well as being able to hold it past its charge)
4) Both Fire Emblem character's Aerial + A forward (with the minimal delay included)
5) Marth/Ike period


Edgehogging I don't mind nearly as much as compared to Melee. Most characters have it fairly easy to come back now (Ganondorf's triple jump has that char to knock them down now, as an example) and if they missed the ledge it was likely their own fault or the other guy timed it well (invincibility climbing, as an example)

Not sure the concept of turtling but I am guessing you mean to spam rolling? If they do the same thing over and over you can just begin to FSmash the opposite direction or grab them from that direction, least this is what I do often...

Nonetheless, complain as I may do I will still find a way to get better and get over these things. I think when I complaining I am just venting and just some past experience annoyances but the game is all in good fun in the end. If there is something you hate that someone does, don't run from them and quit. Keep fighting them and eventually you will find a way out of it and improve on your own to get over those things; a reason why I stopped calling Marth/Ike cheap players and got down to focusing on countering them. Another way I suppose is to have a backup main character for certain situations to counter like... projectiles (reflectors/absorbers/bucket/etc). For me, I have my heavy (Ganondorf) and my speedy light (Ness).

Or the best solution is stick to random which is more fun than anything else Especially FFA 4 way <3 Fun fun fun!

Yeah I'm not gonna complain if theyre using projectiles to space or stuff a move, I dont expect to be able to go nuts with quick draw anyway but that has a purpose other than "i'm in ur % bar zappin ur mans". Turtling is just another term for camping really.

Projectile spamming is a major counter to Marth and Ike. It's not so bad for a lot of characters. For example: As olimar, you can usually dodge most of them by crouching and spamming the dtilt to move forward. It is below most projectiles. Projectiles are one of Marth's main weaknesses and, frankly, he is powerful enough that he needs that kind of weakness.

I bet projectile spammers aren't so bad when you're playing diddy, Ryko.
