What do you consider cheap?

I actually dodge projectiles rather decently on ike and he dies at like twice the % that diddy does (plus I have a really irritating habit of surviving to ridiculous%'s when it starts coming down to the wire, you can ask anyone how many comebacks I've pulled straight out of my ass), plus I have a disjointed hitbox, counter and eruption (you're not going to kill me with your projectile anyway so w/e ill take the 70 or so damage if it comes down to it and get my 5 hits in to even it out when you're finally aiming to kill me) Diddy (or more specifically his bananas) is (are) my way to deal with people with strong easily DIable aerials.

i really dont mind projectile camping (its like playing in a jungle gym i guess ), its just stages that favor it (large, minimal footing, stage hazards) that make it shitty. those stages would be banned in a tourney (like great bay in melee favoring laser campy foxes), i just have to play them against my little brother

and as a side note (this isnt really cheap, nor do i think it applies to anyone but peach): captain falcon's stage, the one that looks like mute city, is gay. i cant instant float without falling through the stage, and i cant double jump to get back on the stage. that stage is shit-tarded.

What do I hate... hmm...

1) Projectiles that "stun" you like Wolf's (most annoying), Falco's, Pit's. I don't mind Fox's since you can still move freely or PK Thunder since it leaves you open. Often times I am afraid when I can shoot projectiles without seeming cheap so I shoot 1-3 times max when they are far from me
2) Wolf's FSmash spam with his gun when they aren't in range of it
3) Ike Forward+B (no one that heavy/strong should move that fast and distance barely charging it as well as being able to hold it past its charge)
4) Both Fire Emblem character's Aerial + A forward (with the minimal delay included)
5) Marth/Ike period

To be fair about ikes forward B its really a terrible recovery, for instance ryko's ike was forward Bing to recover back on the stage at luigi's mansion once against me, and we were both at our last stock and at high percents. I jumped in front of his forward B (allowing it to hit me at like 120%) the result was he shot me up and he fell down. The match ended with my marths back pressed up against the screen. (the ko animation) but his ko registered first. so i won

Ike's other reccovery (aether) is easy to hog if you know how to time invincibility frames just right on the ledge. Marth's counter makes it even easier to rack damage up on a recovering ike, or sometimes even gimp them. Ryko plays an extremely fast Ike and a good one at that. but once i get him off the ledge the match gets alot more in my favor. Though he does beat me more than i beat him. i have my moments against him.


Marth and Ike are by far not the best characters in this campy game. just approaching people at times can be hard but i try to get around it. No character really comes across to me as cheap as they all have their ways to win, however i hate to play against Falco,ROB, or Pit. Toon Link isnt that bad anymore since i have plenty of practice vs him.

DDD's infinite damage chain throw. Other than that nothing, if you can't deal with a camper or someone who spams one move, get better at the game.

It's not a matter of being unable to deal with campers, it's just way too effective for something that requires next to no skill. It's even worse online given the lag, and on top of everything it's a downright boring "strategy" to play against

QFT. Stop trying to flex e-peen saying "omg if you can't dodge every projectile you suck lolz" and admit it's not easy to dodge every projectile online because of button lag which is always there and for those of us who play with friends without lag it is even more noticeable and apparent.

I dislike edgehogging and I don't do it myself because i like longer fights even if it costs me a win, but understandable if someone actually does it.

You don't need to dodge every projectile. You need to dodge enough to close and kill, which isn't vastly difficult. As for being effective, which projectiles are going to give fast, consistant kills?

Yup, turtling can be annoying. So can rushdown and pressure games if it's crushing you every time

Annoying =/-= cheap though.

Diddy banana traps are really annoying. They're not cheap. An unbreakable infinite damage attack is cheap (hell it's downright broken, and hopefully it gets fixed).

Since the wii has the ability to download patches or firmware updates things can be fixed. Whether this will be used or not is another story.

I don't really consider much cheap anymore because I've been exposed to a lot of competitive play and compared to a lot of other games, Brawl really doesn't have much that you can abuse that can't be countered whether it has to do with difference of experience, certain charcter matches/stages and I guess with online play, connection speed. Good example is I never fought any of the chars Thulius uses couple with the fact that he has better control of the game than I do. Result was that I was not used to all the shit he threw at me hence why I spammed projectiles on him (and still ended up losing).

Not gonna claim to be the best player but I already know what I need to work on to become better and playing against people who might use cheap tactics is kind of a means to getting there for me not something I'd complain about. I understand some of you guys aren't into the whole competitive level thing and that's fine. I used to be the same way. However it was also unrealistic for me to expect the people who crushed me to change around the way they played when it obviously worked for them.

My biggest pet peeve is spammers. Not even projectiles really, Im mean cmon the game has different button how about pushing a different one lol. Only time I spam the arrow with Pit is in an SD match (depending who Im fighting) a fully charged arrow is a nice way to win lol.

I am best with ZSS imo, on the first page it was said that throwing her armor pieces is cheap. I didnt do that today when I was playing online and I still won, but its so satisfying when you start a match and peg someone in the face with ur helmet or arm cannon. I just cant help myself. I'll especially do that if its a heavy like DDD or DK and Bowser, the extra damage might help me out who knows.

I don't see much wrong with throwing ZSS's armor pieces. It doesn't appear to be much different that starting a match with the projectiles a character might have. She only has 3 and assuming she starts at a distance from you (may not be the case in a 3 or 4 person match) you only need to block all 3, sidestep, or jump out of the way. If you can do the timing, you can catch them and throw them back or if your character has a reflector, use that at the start.

NEARLY(90%) all of the players I've faced spam it.
THAT takes no skill, and while it IS useful, its bad to make a habit of using it all the time.

Thats the only thing that really bothers me IMO, I've lost a good amount of battles, especially if I'm in the air falling, and they are just waiting to do a Up+A, if on the ground, its both Down+A and Side+A, annoying.

I however, enjoy people Turtling and spam Projectiles, because I know how to handle them. Though, being a hypocrite just a little, I like to use Projectile/Reflector/Absorber characters as well, its kind of hard to tell if YOUR the one spamming on the character though, especially if you try not to, but you can't help but do it, if you want to win or need to save yourself.
