Hate to say it but if Utah keeps getting turnovers and shooting like now they might win this game.

Anybody knows the exact rule about Kobe's "self alley-oop"? I mean the play was cool, but I thought if the ball doesn't hit the rim, you can't catch your own pass and it should have been a travel.

Steve Francis did it for Orlando a few years back in a road game against Detroit...It was amazing seeing how short he is, but yeah, a lot of people wondered the same thing...I'm pretty sure it's counted as a shot, offensive rebound, and make, but not 100%...It would at least explain why it isn't a turnover/ self pass.

I know the Lakers will probably win the series by 5, but lol @ some of the reactions of their loss. I mean seriously. Come on, Utah plays good at home and that's it. "Bleh, so many mistakes." Bleh nothing. Utah made em too.

I'm starting to think the NBA won't let these games only go 4 games because of the revenue lost. Why do I watch anything but the Finals again?

Are you sure that's the exact rule? Just to clarify, the ball didn't hit the rim, but it did hit the backboard. I don't think that makes a difference whether it hit the backboard or not.

the nba has no such thing as "exact rule," it's all up to what the refs decide

sheesh i thought most people have realized this by now

I'm just asking what should have been the right call, geez.

I know they didn't call it.

Edit: I found the answer in the NBA rule book:

    http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_10.ht ... rticleList

    Section XIV-Traveling
    i. A player who attempts a field goal may not be the first to touch the ball if it fails to touch the backboard, basket ring or another player.
PENALTY: Loss of ball. The ball is awarded to the opposing team at the sideline, nearest spot of the violation but no nearer the baseline than the foul line extended.
So if it hits the backboard but not the rim it's okay! Makes me feel much better about the play now that I know it's legal :D It was awesome

Re: 2007-2008 NBA Playoffs - THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

So my opinion might be a bit biased on this but shit Turiaf did not deserve to be ejected from the game, if you look at the replay Turiaf was going for the block and his arm came down and hit the Utah point guards body which somehow sent him slamming into the ground. It's pretty obvious to me anyway that the foul was unintentional I mean shit it was Turiaf's arm lowering at the wrong time that sooo did not deserve a flagrant 1 with ejection.

That Utah point guard has like delicate skin or some shit.

Edit: Damn clutch shot by kobe at the last second in the half

The dude almost cracked his skull open. I don't see how the ref's couldn't have given him a flagrant. A flagrant foul isn't restricted to being called based on the intent of the player.

Odom came to play today. Let's see if the Jazz can get out of overtime.
