I saw that, shit, but i have heard ALOT of stories of Sony Vaio's going out after a year, due to the motherboard dying, and sony charging them 680$ for a new one. I just want to get my facts straight.

Has anyone heard anything about the Sony Vaio's? I hear they die after about a year ._. true? cause i'm thinking about getting one, either that or HP Pavillion. I haven't seen anything Dell that has caught my eye, i'm looking for school/torrent/gaming laptop, a little bit of everything that can handle all that

I'm using a Vaio VGN-FE790G, the only thing that it crapped on me was the Fujitsu hd. However, I was lucky to get a replacement even though the 1 year warranty had already expired by 1 month. I'm quite happy with it, has a slick design too. This model was like 2k about a year ago, now you can find it for 1.5k new -.- /wrists

Sony laptops have ALOT of stupid fucking programs that take up memory that if disabled make the computer, or certain features of it not work. Dell's and Alienwares are pieces of shit, I fix dells all day long, and had an Alienware problem that I'm not getting into. My HP is an amazing laptop that I have had for quite some time now. You can find them all over, but, considering I work for Geek Squad I'm going to give you advice that is slightly biased by me having to fix laptops all damn day.

Go to your local best buy and pick up the HP you like the most, most of the AMD chips have video cards in them, smaller ones, not for heavy gaming, but decent, some of the higher ones have good GPU's but for a price. Make sure not to skip out on the service plan though, thats where the big thing comes in... 90% of PC's with a service plan get fixed or replaced with no argument, that 10% is the few types of damage not covered and software problems. The service plan includes if you drop your laptop or spill something on it for 2 or 3 years, honestly an amazing deal.

Lastly, get @ least an Optimization if you dont know how to do the tweaks yourself, and make sure you get security software, I'd recomend Kapersky.

My old laptop was a Sony VAIO. It went 4 years before anything went wrong, and that was the fan dying. I had the fan replaced for $250, and it's just fine now. Although it was a sign that it was time to get a new laptop...
