I agree with this although it's entirely likely even with hitstun ike would be left the same so as to not overpower him.Originally Posted by BRP

Don't most of his attacks knock people far away anyway? I can't think of many attacks beside his A combo where hitstun is a big factor(because it's possible to shield that third hit if timed right).
neutral air, down tilt at low %'s, up tilt at low%, short hopped down air, and grab setups would be really brutal. Not to mention his A combo already links into
Up tilt
Down tilt
Front tilt
Down smash
Aether
And grabs
depending on proximity and DI
if I could hitstun you at like 35 into a frontsmash you'd eat a KO on a light character.
I know my shit. I browse smashboards for laughs.
Hitstun makes things inescapable. Don't beat around the bush by saying 'true combos'. I haven't stated my opinion. Currently, there are chains of moves that could lead into each other as combos. It's just more possible to escape them.
As far as no stun on shield, it's yet to be seen how it eventually turns out. The grabs may be weaker than ever, but if they counter such a newly overpowered move, they suddenly become very useful.
People are resistant to change, which makes the truth muddled. We don't know the truth of what it will be yet. People would rather complain then work on thinking of new ways to make things work.
One example of old melee players being utter faggots about brawl comes from this: Somebody says Brawl is more balanced than Melee. Meleefag says "Brawl is just as unbalanced, seriously look at xxx char who is just going to dominate like fox, just you wait, I'm right."
What's the interesting thing? Though they agree on it being unbalanced, there is a set of like 10 characters who are all chosen from for xxx. Guess what this is evident of?
It has less to do with balance and more to do with how the game is set up. It's a camping game with only a small chance to develop past that. Characters save a few examples who just rip shit up that can function well camping will be the champs. Characters who relied on combos will not be winning anything. Current combos are limited to weird stuff like Lucario linking his jabs and grabs which leaves most of the game empty of them.
No stun on attacks or shield makes for boring and campy games. We see a lot of complaints about camping in friendlies alone, not even matches where money is on the line. There's simply too much of an advantage to camping with little to no drawbacks. I don't see how fixing that and making the game more interesting is a bad thing.
Agreed, unless your character has to there's nothing pragmatic about sticking your neck out.
