    Work at home/Data entry jobs.

I am moving in about 3 months across the country so I don't really have time to get a second job before I leave. Does anyone know anything about legit work at home companies that have you do data entry or anything similar that I could apply for to earn some extra cash before I move? Or does anyone have any experience working for a company like this?

Re: Work at home/Data entry jobs.

All the jobs I've applied to in the past that were, supposedly, at home data entry jobs turn out to be lame ass scammer attempts. They always try to get you to pay for a package to get started, which is $90. So, from there, you can tell it's bullshit.

Depending on the type of company you work for and what kind of situation you end up with in that company, they'll give you the software they use at the job site and network your computer to their business network when you install it.

While we're at it, what's the highest paying work-at-home job that involves no risk for the employee (which precludes self employment)? It doesn't have to be data entry.

Say, an example in both the skilled/have connections, and unskilled/no connections categories.

    Telemarketing, lol.

At home Help Desk. Tech support for computers, copy machines, printers, scanners, whatever.

Edit: Working for companies like.. United Business Machines, Pitney Bowes, or whoever else makes office equipment. I don't know if they have "work-at-home" stuff, but they all have basic help desk jobs.

i've been looking for something like this as well, but as stated all the finds i've had so far want money up-front to deliver something supposedly giving you the info for jobs.

as cautious as i am about scams, that means no work-at-home job for me... and i just wanted something for weekends/weeknights if i ever get bored or can't sleep etc. stupid internetz.

The last time I got paid for something that wasn't a scam and involved very little work, and at-home, was when there was that ad thing that paid you for time spent with their ad open and your mouse moving. All it took was a macro to move your mouse for you while you were asleep or at work, and it racked up the time. I got a couple checks for $100-150 before that stopped being worth it.

I have a second job I do from home 2-3 days a week as a forum/blog moderator. It pays $10 an hr M-T $15 an hr Fri 8pm-midnight and Sat, Sun 5pm-midnight.

It's pretty nice since a nice chunk of my full time jobs check goes to car, mortgage and child lol.

Re: Work at home/Data entry jobs.

Don't bet on finding an at-home job that you can retire on and you might find something decent. None of them pay worth a shit, no benefits, probably will be a bs job like telemarketing/collections/sales. The rest are all pyramid schemes and other fun scams you can get into.

The real at-home jobs are finding little trade-skill niches on the internet. Simple stuff I've done like creating online flyers, designing myspace pages, and other little things you can do on photoshop is really easy money if you can network. It may not turn into a full time job of course, but its good, clean, and fast money.

Or if you want, you can take the scammer's whole reason for you paying them to TEACH you how to earn money by selling shit online and learn how to do it for free. Its not hard, the information is all over the internet, and you can actually make it a full-time job if you wanted to. You do have to have some money obviously to start ebaying shit like from a wholesale catalog, but you don't need to buy a book to learn how to do that stuff lol

Anyways, long story short, avoid the classifieds when looking for those jobs and don't get scammed.

If that was AllAdvantage.com (I think that was the name) I made a couple grand off that in school before it went bankrupt. That was sweet.

Re: Work at home/Data entry jobs.

I drop shipped radar detectors in high school on yahoo auctions (lol). They have books (you have to buy) that have drop ship company lists. This was years ago though, I haven't done it in awhile, but it's a bit of change on the side if it can still be done.

My fiancee frequents some forums where a bunch of pregnant females congregate. It's like this forum built with estrogen and umbilical cords. Anywho, a lot of them work from home so they can take care of their kids. Quite a few of them use http://www.westathome.com/ Apparently when you call those infomercial ads you see (like "Look at this awesome fucking orange peeler. This is a badass orange peeler you can get for just 19.95") you call people who take their orders at their house. You get paid for every minute you are on the phone. Some of those preggos make pretty sweet dough doing it. They say you can tell them about how many minutes you wish to take, and they'll route accordingly (you get paid by the minute). I dunno, my fiancee was trying to explain it to me one day, may be something to look into.

    Edit:
    http://apply.westathome.com/faq.asp

Seems pretty neat and my fiancee says it's legit.

I'd be really interested in some kind of data entry or anything I can do from my computer in my spare time ( I have a decent amount of it).
One of my friends was talking about someone he knew that made myspace layouts and made bank on it, but I honestly don't know how to start something like that.

ChaCha's legit. All you do is google/wiki stupid shit for people who are lazy.

Expect to see a lot of "Who has the most points in the Laker's stadium this season?" and "Who was the 22nd president of the US?", random stuff like that. You can make bank if you're persistent with it. Goto chacha.com and follow the instructions from there to become a guide.

I'm also looking for one of these, and I worked as a ChaCha guide as two years and only pulled a few hundred dollars out of it, its not very good money but you can do it while you play FFXI. I quit working for them right when they re did their system so im not sure if things have changed.

Yeah, it was AllAdvantage. I wasn't in it long enough for a couple grand, but a few hundred dollars in free cash was still nice.

As for ChaCha, that pretty much turns "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!!1!" into "Sure, let me look that up for you."
