I've been tired but not any more than when I normally get sick. Has it just not hit me yet?

well might have been the meds the had me on. They switched me two three diffrent things when i had it.
it's different in everyone... my girlfriend had it and got better in like two weeks. Didn't have an enlarged spleen at all and her kidneys never were hurt. Her throat was really shitty and the doctor gave her lidocaine, shit was nasty as fuck though. Never got hospitalized but she was pretty shitty feeling for awhile.
My sophmore year of college I got sick right after christmass break. Being pig headed I figured it would go away. Went home for the summer and my mom begged me to go see a doctor since I was still sick. Note I hate doctors. But she beggs so I go and they say I have Mono. They say blahblah I should be dead and blahblah. I get my meds but never take em cause I hate pills more than doctors. A week later it went away. I still hate Doctors and pills. Come to think of it that was the last time I have ever been to the doctor and that was 10 years ago.
I found warm BV soothed the throat and no doze solved the being tired all the time.

I've had this for the past month and it sucks big time. The sore throat never really hit me that bad, it was just the 24/7 nausea for a month and being so fkn tired all the time. Can't eat normal food, only drinking water or ginger-ale type stuff, but yeah this shit sucksMy mom said she had it when she was a kid for 6 months... this is stupid.
And yeah my whole body just plain hurts most of the time, Tylenol is your friend.
Figured it was time to chime in here with some real information:
I have known several people who got mono and its a REALLY crappy thing to get over. The most important thing is that you rest. That means no more 1AMto6AM HNM camping for you. Unless you want to stay sick...
If you are serious about getting better ASAP you can look forward to 6-9 months of taking it WAY easy, not drinking any alcohol or doing any drugs, ( if you smoke get ready to give it up ) just take care of yourself and lay low. It takes time to get better.
Good luck to you.
Here is the Wiki for you!

Treatment
Infectious mononucleosis is generally self-limiting and only symptomatic and/or supportive treatments are used.[9] Rest is recommended during the acute phase of the infection, but activity should be resumed once acute symptoms have resolved. Nevertheless heavy physical activity and contact sports should be avoided to abrogate the risk of splenic rupture, for at least one month following initial infection and until splenomegaly has resolved, as determined by ultrasound scan.[9]
In terms of pharmacotherapies, acetaminophen/paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be used to reduce fever and pain – aspirin is not used due to the risk of Reye's syndrome in children and young adults. Intravenous corticosteroids, usually hydrocortisone or dexamethasone, are not recommended for routine use[10] but may be useful if there is a risk of airway obstruction, severe thrombocytopenia, or hemolytic anemia.[11][12]
There is little evidence to support the use of aciclovir, although it may reduce initial viral shedding.[13] However, the antiviral drug valacyclovir has recently been shown to lower or eliminate the presence of the Epstein-Barr virus in subjects afflicted with acute mononucleosis, leading to a significant decrease in the severity of symptoms. [14][15][16] Antibiotics are not used as they are ineffective against viral infections. The antibiotics amoxicillin and ampicillin are contraindicated in the case of any coinciding bacterial infections during mononucleosis because their use can frequently precipitate a non-allergic rash. In a small percentage of cases, mononucleosis infection is complicated by co-infection with streptococcal infection in the throat and tonsils (strep throat). Penicillin or other antibiotics (with the exception of the two mentioned above) should be administered to treat the strep throat. Opioid analgesics are also contraindicated due to risk of respiratory depression.[11]
Finals in 4 weeks and a shit load of plans over summer. WORST TIMING EVER
Yeah I got Mono a year and a half ago in the fall, then Labyrinthitis in the spring. Luckily I had a comforting gf otherwise I probably would have stepped in front of a train.

I never really felt too sick, just a little sluggish for a couple months.
Take Accounting 101, and sleep during class every single day - worked for me.
I've had a twice-hourly cough and some sluggishness for the past 2 weeks, I was actually contemplating whether I could have mono again. You aren't supposed to be able to get it twice right?
I never knew mono was this bad D:
That settles it, I'm not kissing another woman until I get health insurance.
well, when my fiancee had mono i had sex with her a lot. that seemed to help me through it quite well.
You think knowing a few people, and copypasta from wikipedia, counts as information more real than the experiences of people who've actually had it?Originally Posted by finitek

Well...I got over it 7 years ago - I have to think my current illness is unrelated to the mono I had in 2001.Originally Posted by Shuemue

No disrespect intended...
I'm an EMT, and there is no one way to treat mono. All of the advice is valid. No need to get offended or feel like I am trying to disrespect anyone here. My in laws just recently (2 years ago) got over a 3 year battle with Epstein Barr. It was different for each of them.
That is all.
