That was my whole fucking point, several people had posted personal experiences of the virus. You then stroll in and dismiss it by stating that you're the one bringing real information.

Basically, fuck you. Your second-hand information, regardless of source, is in no way more real than the accounts of those who've had it.

Start sucking on some throat lozenges or pop motrin like theres no tomorrow.

Pretty much any lozenge will work as long as its not acme brand, just use them often(idk if there is a limit on that but if the package says there is... don't listen to me).

And yeah motrin(ibuprofin, i just call it motrin becuse thats the brand ive used since forever) is good for muscle pain/swelling/fever(which is what most of mono is) and such, so its always a good idea.

When I had it I was originally mis-diagnosed twice. So for two weeks I was on the wrong medication which actually made things worse. But once I was on the right meds I was alright. I wasn't tired at all, but my throat fucking killed 24/7.

Big thing to remember is once you've had mono it is very easy for you to get it again. It generally only takes 20-30 days to get better from it. Not sure where 1 - 6 months came from unless you have super mono. But like the others said just chill, eat right, drink plenty of fluids(ie no energy drinks and soda.)

What were you diagnosed with? Strep throat? From my experience when they prescribe you with mono and you end up having strep throat they give you basically the same thing.

I forgot if it was something like Amoxacilin or Cyproflaxin, I forgot what they gave me but my Mono experiences only lasted like 1-2 weeks. I am a really big health nut and not your average gamer though so I don't get sick too often and when I do it is for a very short period of time.

First I was diagnosed with fucking bronchitis(don't ask me how they fucked that one up, I have no clue.) Then after a week of not getting any better they said that I had the flu. After another week of getting progressively worse(to the point it hurt to swallow fucking liquids) they finally figured out it was mono.

I remember I played a crap ton of World Series Baseball on my Saturn that month. The worst thing you're going to deal with is you are going to go absolutely stir-crazy not being able to go anywhere etc.

It's because it can take a while to detect. You can be infected but the only way they can find out is by the white bloodcell count or something, which can take up to 2 weeks to get to a level where you'd be diagnosed with mono.

I've had it too and I don't find what he said was offensive, grow some balls instead of being butthurt. He used the wrong words, but if you can't see by his second post that he should have written "Professional opinion" and you're still ragging on him, you're a mong.

I had it. Worst part was the sore throat. I liked any kind of menthol lozenges personally. I popped them and tylonel like it was my job.

For the whole spleen is enlarged don't play any contact sport, I played basketball throughout the entire time (competitive so a lot of banging around in the paint) and I was fine. But I also didn't say anything since they would have sat me.

Don't pay attention to this "advice" unless you want to literally risk killing yourself with nothing more than a hard collision.

I had mono this bad, I couldn't eat or drink for a week and had to goto the hospital and get a few bags of IV. As someone else said, I used Ricola's like they were candy, and if i gargled salt water it'd take some of the pain away.
I also munched on tylenols like no tomorrow in feeble attempts to control my body temp. hope you feel better that shit was nasty. I kept a fort up in the living room on the couch, didnt get off it except to goto the hospital and bathroom

got this sophomore year of college. Got Mono and Strep Throat at the same time. Wow...that sucked. Throat hurt, and it was closing up on me. The doc had to prescribe steroids to bring the swelling down.

People keep saying that mono is supposed to make you tired, but I barely got ANY sleep that week. I ate a ton of popsicles, mashed potatoes, etc...I couldn't swallow anything else. I lost over 10 pounds that week.

I had it a long time ago, right before starting high school. All I remember from it was that I felt fine if I was sitting or laying down, but no less than 2 minutes after getting up for any reason at all, I felt like dying.

They put me on some medication, I forget which, and I was better before they said I would be... but I'm not a puss about getting sick like some people are.

Be glad you didn't get tonsillitis. I had that for the first time a while back, and not only does your throat look swollen and covered in white puss and gross looking chunks, but you can't swallow at all. I couldn't even drink water. My meal for the entire day was half a packet of cream of wheat and maybe 1/3 a glass of water. And that continued for like 2 weeks. I lost about 10 pounds over that time, and it took me another 2 weeks just to get my strength and energy back. I also had to stick to soft foods for a while even after the swelling went away. I also couldn't sleep or lay down.
