BRD advice

I just got BRD to 43 last night, and I have a few questions.

I understand there are two type of builds, one CHR and one Skill. Can someone explain the difference to me, I understand that if you have a certain +skill your buff's will be better.

Also BRD is my highest job and I plan on using it for endgame stuff. So I would like to know which build I should start gearing for.

you have buff build and debuff build, debuff includes chr, buff does not

Skill in singing and the appropriate instrument will do two things: they increase the potency of buff songs, and increase the accuracy of debuff songs.

Charisma does one thing: it increases the accuracy of debuff songs.

For debuffs on HNM, I find it better to focus on skill, and fill whereever you can't get skill gear with Charisma gear. Exceptions can be made when there's a large discrepancy between skill and Charisma amounts; for example, Errant Houppelande/Kirin's Osode (10 Charisma) vs. Minstrel's Coat (3 skill). For meriting, I put haste/fast cast gear where I can, and skill/charisma where I can't, since the only thing better than pulling Colibri is pulling more Colibri, faster.

Agree totally with Obev. I also wanted to add to not worry too much about builds while xping to 75. Depending on your party dynamics and whatnot, just grab yourself some wind skill where you can, and MP/CHR wherever else. Your buff songs aren't really going to be buffed beyond their possible max by putting on extra singing skill and all that while you're not 75. Just make sure you keep all of your skills capped for your level. Then you'll need to decide what best to gear for end-game when you know what you're actually going to be fighting.
